This little red schoolhouse sits abandoned along a stretch of country road, not too far from where I live. Every time I drive by it I think of the little school I attended during the 4th, 5th & 6th grade. It was a small school, having a total of six classrooms, one for each grade. I love the way it sits alone in the field, giving it the feel of Little House on the Prairie. I really hate to see the past disappear. I guess it's my sentimental side coming out.,
This would make such a wonderful dwelling ... with some trees, of course. It's a great building and you photographed it well...Yes, it does have much potential...
Great capture Rick. Sad to wonder if this "simple" structure will be around in 100 years. I wish I had some simplicity for me to shoot in my neck of the woods. Early in my project I grabbed my camera bag and jumped in the car to hunt for a shot like this. I drove 45 minutes out of the city and still couldn't find anything remotely as simple as this!
Don't you just hate that a beautiful building is just sitting there abandoned like this. Why not transport it to a place where it can be used for something else if not a school in another rural area. Gosh I'm getting up on my soap box this really disturbs me, am I the only one who gets like this about this type of wastage? I fave this for me.
Absolutely love it. I love the wide open space it presents... to think about the amount of history that piece of land and building have witnessed over the years is mind-boggling.
Looks like a little schoolhouse out on the prairie. I love how you've captured it's simplicity. Too bad it can't be used for something. We have a hunting cabin that used to be a little schoolhouse.
Fantastic capture Rick! It DOES fit right into the Little House on the Praire setting :-) There is one of these, out by my parents house. Somebody bought it, and actually made it into their home. A good way to save the past, but not let it sit abandoned, to fall down in the future!
I love it ....my kind of picture!!! We have several one room school houses around my area and people have bought them and live in them! That is a great way to save the past because they still look like the old school house!
I could have sworn I was the first one to comment on this pic. It's gorgeous. It's one of those places that I would have yelled "stop" when driving past with someone else!
Great shot! It too reminds me of school... and Little House on the Prairie. We had 3 grades per classroom, something that I am happy about with the new school my son is in. I think it builds stronger bonds between students.
This is gorgeous Rick - I finally have some time to sit and look & comment on people's photos - I love the history in this shot - and I too hate seeing the past disappear.
gosh i was just looking through some of your photos (very lovely) and this little school house looks awfully familiar! Where is it at though? I know I've seen it before
love it! :)
Very nice perspective.
