I Am Your Child, Tomorrow, Like You I Could Be
Don't Expect The Worse, Look For The Best In Me
Eyes Are Watching, What Might I Do, What Might I Be
Surely You Must Know, Tomorrow, Your Future Is Me
Today I Am Here, Though Not Of My Own Choosing
I Will Choose To Learn, To Survive, I Will Do My Best
I Am Eager To Learn, I Take In All That Surrounds Me
I Study It All, And Watch With An Intense Interest
You Have The Freedom, The Ability To Change My Life
But If I Succeed Or Fail, Ultimately It Is Up To Me
I Ask, Are You Willing To Invest And Believe In Me
To Teach Me, Encourage Me, And Show Me The Way
Love Me, Your Child, Please Tell Me, Show Me
Please Be My Example To Follow I Pray

Several years ago I wrote this for my Son. As a Father, I know the awesome responsibility we have. We need to be here for our Children, and to be an example, a teacher, and most importantly, the leader they need, and they need to know that we love them unconditionally. I wanted to impact my Son's life in a way that he would understand how important he was in his Daughter's life, and how much she needs him to be here for her. Life is too dangerous to live it without a Dad.
beautiful portrait Rick! But the words you have written speak mountains, and have touched me- Dedicated Dads Make A Difference!!! Wonderfully done my friend :D
My son is a single dad, and he is mindful every day of making a positive impact on his daughter's life. This poem is lovely. I intend to forward it to him.
The poem is fantastic! It is wonderful that you encourage your son to be a great dad. I don't know what life would have been like for me, without a dad. To all the dads out there THANK YOU for being there for your children!
Lovely poem you've written and the accompanying image is perfect to go along with it. Dads do have a profound impact on children either for better or worse.
Beautiful photo.
Lovely shot.
