This is not the real me, trust me, I was caught off guard. I thought it was time to just relax, have fun and make a silly shot, and what better time than now while I'm taking pain pills and feeling pretty good. Anyway, many of you have been asking how I was doing. I appreciate your concern. All in all, not too bad, though I must admit, this is hurting much more than I expected it to. I am not one that takes many pain pills, especially anything stronger than Advil. I definitely needed something more than Advil this time, and though it makes it much more bearable, I do not like the way they make me feel. The bandage / splint comes off Friday, and trust me, I'll be taking Vicodin that day because he will most likely manipulate my thumb a bit after being immobilized for a week. Then the sutures come out and then I start therapy. So thanks for asking, and I truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
Rick, it sounds like there's still quite a few procedures to 'get through' before you're heading on the home straight again to feeling fully yourself. Pain has that way of making everything seem that bit worse than it would be otherwise, keep positive and you could be framous if you win the theme challenge, I mean famous (apologies for the pun)
LOL! Great shot and hey at least you have Vicodin or Happy V as I like to call it. I just got out of the hospital and they cut me off...sent me home without any pain pills whatsoever. I hope that idiot doctor that treated me at the hospital experiences this one day. Sorry about your thumb. And this is a really fun shot...you should make it your profile pic.
I love this photo! Silly looks good on you. The black and white and shadows are really cool. I vote for taking the pain meds. Pain wears a person down. Hope it goes well Friday!
Love this shot. You have really ensured the eyes are the centre of the photo and they really shine through. I hope Friday goes well and the pain meds help you hang in there.
I wish you going to get better faster than you expect. Feeling pain is not easy and makes one miserable. You photo is very cool you look like you were doing something funny, like a kid.
This is awesome Rick!!! You are fun and funny and even in pain ( I can relate to the horrid side effects ) you are on all levels a great person, you are deep, creative, inspirational, fun, encouraging and all round fantastic....this is a super 'framed' shot of you seriously it has to make the top 5 at least!!! Good luck on Friday :)
Awesome shot! So silly and fun! I haven't been looking at people's posts the past few days so I had no idea what happened, but I do hope you feel better soon. =)
So fun! I love your creative view! Keep on top of the pain so you will heal. Wishing a speedy recovery for you. I love this photo!!! PERFECT theme shot!
Lol. Vicodin is my pain killer of preference when talking about the good stuff. It's the other ones that react weird for me. I'm glad you're doing well, and letting some of that awesome personality shine through.
BRILLIANT idea and flawless execution Rick. I hope the pain gets better for you soon...you've got pictures to take (although it doesn't seem to be slowing you down one bit). You're still cranking them out! :)
@dollybeads Ellen, I have been having almost constant pain in my left hand, thumb joint for the past 6 months, and lost most of my grip strength. I fianally had it checked by an orthopedic surgeon, and found it to be bone on bone due to arthritis. He gave me several options, the best being a complete carpal metacarpal joint replacement, which is what I opted to have done.
Fun shot! Sorry to hear you've been through the mill a bit - had to read back to get up to speed - here's hoping the carpal metajobbie thing improves things for you.
A wonderful selfie, Rick, you captured yourself well, your great sense of humor and appreciation for the project. Glad to know you're doing well, hope the pain subsides very soon.
I am so glad you are on the mend. I am completely the same way when it comes to pain pills. When I gave birth to my daughter I wanted off the Epidural as soon as I was done getting her born. I hope you feel better soon. Rest lots and know we are all hoping for the best.
Well, hello! I don't envy your therapy, I know how hard that is and how patient you have to be. Hang in there, though, and do all the exercises. Easier said than done, I'm sure!
Cool frame shot Rick - I like!
Glad to hear the hand is on the mend. Each day I hope it gets a bit better.
Healing thoughts are with you :)
