I returned to work today, and for the first half hour it felt good to get back. I was checking on some of my residents who had not been doing so well, chatted with some of them, tried catching up on some other issues, met the physician who was there to do weekly rounds, answered my pages which started almost as soon as I stepped foot onto my neighborhood, was summoned to a few meetings, and it kept going. I opened up my e-mails and they kept coming. There was no way I was getting to them today. The windmill was there, but no wind. After about 1:30 I decided, hey, tomorrow is another day. So I took the rest of the day in stride, finishing out my meetings, and addressing only emergent issues. My hand held up good though. Very little pain, and all I had was two Advil this morning. I guess things are looking up, and life is almost back to normal.
Great moody pic! This reminds me of all the research my husband and I have been doing - we're trying to build our cottage off grid. We went to one builder's house who had his own wind power source. Really interesting to see how far we have come.
Excellent to hear about your hand - hope the positive healing continues! :)
Glad things are getting back to normal! I am laughing because it was terribly windy today and I took a similar shot and processed it in black and white. I chose a different one to post and so glad I did! Very neat shot, Rick!
@gabssweetie We had those 50 mph gusts yesterday and last night; it was actually a bit scary and I was thinking about Auntie Em!
Nice shot, Rick, and so glad that 2 Advil and the hand did well the first day back in the trenches! May the recovery continue along such a trajectory!!
Beautiful composition and presentation Rick...there's something so very peaceful about these old windmills! I'm glad to hear you're on the mend and life is returning to normal for you!
Very nice picture of the windmill..wind or no wind. isn't it kind of too soon for you to be back full time? am happy for you that you could get away with just the 2 pills...so you are on the mend...
@bruni Well, that i sone advantage of being a nurse manager. I can delegate, and adjust what I do. Most of what I do is paperwork, and management things, except for when I am out there talking with the residents, etc. My mouth is fine, LOL.
This is such a beautiful, haunting shot. Love the black and white for this one. It perfectly fits the subject. Glad you're feeling better and hope you catch up at work soon.
First of all I have to say a huge thank you to you, your comments on my photos are too nice!
it is very nice to know you went back to work and you are feeling better.
The photo is beautiful it gave an idea of loneliness...
Glad to hear that your return to work went well. It's hard to get back in the swing of things after a break like that, but I think you handled it well. Work will always be there- so keep first things first, the main thing the main thing and do your reasonable service (as Paul advises in the book of Romans). The wind will return soon enough. I think everyone is glad you're back!
This photo is now a favorite. I love the B&W and the metal against the skyline. Its rural yet somehow urban as well. Loving the shades of light and dark.
Great capture and processing. Sounds like you had a very busy day for your first day back. So glad to hear the pain was nil and your getting back to normal :)
Great news! (Your hand is better) Cool photo. Reminds me of home. Everything is reminding me of things lately - I think that means I 'm getting old....
Lovely shot Rick, although it seems kinda lonely. Glad you are feeling better. I just want to thank you for your continued support here, I appreciate all your comments on my photos, especially when i have been unable to keep up with commenting on yours. Take care :)

Hmm, I am so far behind as usual so I'll have to backtrack to see what has happened to your hand.
