I had fun playing with this one in Picnik. The original was in color, but then when I changed it to B/W and came across this texture, immediately I thought, wow, that is COLD. As I thought about the title, "Cold Eyes" and looked at the edited photo, wondering what the photo could mean, I was reminded of times when I was younger, and how I would tend to look at others, their life's circumstances, and would often judge them, you know, with that insensitive attitude, looking at them with "Cold Eyes." I wouldn't take the time to step back and think that they may have been struggling with something very personal, and painful, something totally out of their control, not really knowing or even caring what was going on behind the scenes. As I began to mature, and began to experience life and some of my own personal circumstances, and struggles, I began to realize how cold and insensitive I had been. Life has a way of teaching us some of those tough lessons. Trust me, I haven't "arrived" and I still catch myself being critical at times. I think it is our nature, but today I try to make it a daily goal, that when I see others, and hear about their personal circumstances, and the struggles they may be going through, I remind myself, "Remember what it was like. That could be me." It helps me to keep life in a more proper perspective. Lord, help me to see others through Your eyes, and then reach out, and meet them where they are.
Wow -- love reading your words. Not everybody gets to this point in life. Your thoughts speak of a lot of growth, a lot of awareness and a great sensitivity. I'm rather awed! And the photo is amazing!
Wow, this one is awesome! How did you do that crackly thing with the eyes? I use picnik too, but can only find the most simple things there, even though I paid for an upgrade. I love your words and thoughts here too. I have always taken the concept of "Judge not, lest you be judged" along with "He among you who is without sin, cast the first stone," to heart. Pardon the paraphrasing, but I think those are some of the most powerful messages that Jesus imparted, along with "Love one another as I have loved you." To me that kind of sums it all up.
O.K., the picture is kind of scary - but the story? The story is AWESOME! You are right, we all struggle with people that don't act or look the way we think they should. Have you heard that song "Give Me Your Eyes." If not, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGr8as7pPBE
I fave'd this for the shot and the message. In my job you have to look at someone and make a snap decision about them. It then carries over into your personal life. Not a good thing outside the job. Nicely done my friend.
You've brought tears to my eyes with this whole concept, Rick. I've been where you've been . . .and now my eyes are more open too. Life has a way of changing us totally around sometimes. Thanks, Rick.
That is so true Rick - we tend to be judgmental of people because when we look at them we only see the outward appearance & yes, we have to hold back our prejudices & "cold eyes". Great photo!
Its always the eyes that you look in when you are meeting some one new , they say such a lot about a person. Im sure you are not really scary Rick. bt thank for all your nice comments I am afraid I have got a bit behind with mine, after having the family over
I couldn't comment on this last night as my internet was so slow but have come back to it tonight as I think it is an amazing shot !! The texture is so pronounced almost like the bark of a tree & a furry ball in the middle ! Brilliant shot Rick !
Very cool, Rick! Both the photo and your comments. I think it's just human nature to judge other people no matter how hard we try not to. I always try and remember that saying that goes something like.... Be kind to others because everyone is fighting some kind of battle.
Love your words for today - please put them together in a book for us to read one day :)
