I had previously posted photos of some of the immediate area surrounding the major bridge building project going on in my home town. The main road heading North through the City is now closed as the major portion of the construction process continues to move forward. When I look at the photo of the road closure, I see major chaos and confusion, and it is quite difficult to imagine it looking like the artists rendering of the finished project. We are all quite eager for this project to come to an end. And then they will begin to do the same one block West, modifying the main road heading South through the City. Thought I would give you a quick update. Long day at work today, so not much available to take photos. Have a great night everyone.
Here they say we have two seasons - summer and construction. It seems that if roads aren't closed because they are dug up, they are impassable due to snow. Ah progress. It will all look wonderful some day.
I am always astonished that civil engineers and architects can turn blueprints into actual buildings and roads that do what they are supposed to. I'm glad your town's project is coming to fruition.
It's nice to see an update on this project. We are bogged down with construction lately too, but it's mostly roadwork. Hope you have a great weekend, Rick!
I'm always amazed at how road projects come together. It looks like it's never going to work and it usually does. (Not always, but usually.) Thanks for the update.
But any construction and work for people is a great thing!!! We have had a major road job going on for over a year and it won't be done until spring and then they start an interchange on the highway near us. But it's keepin some people workin so that's a good thing.
I often feel the same way as you when I'm looking at a construction site... how are they going to make this mess look like the rendering? And I'm always amazed in the end when it finally does!
Cool. We always wonder what it is going to look like then we so quickly forget what all the fuss was about while it was happening. Well, thats part of being human I guess... moving on. Nice one Rick.
Progress can certainly take its time, can't it? The road improvement project here (the Marshall's Creek Bypass) was supposed to be completed by 2009. As Karen Carpenter once sang, "We've only just begun..." Funny thing though, once the project is finally done and you drive on it for a month or two, you won't be able to remember how it used to be.
That's the problem with big road projects, they seem to look messy and uncoordinated for ages, then it all comes together.
Good collage Rick. Hope you had a good night too Rick.
Well, the way I look at is is, there's always always going to be some construction work going on in the place where you live. Admittadly, some may be less of a convenience, some may affect less people, but it always affects someone, somewhere. I try to be that person however, that it doesn't affect and see the detours and dug up roadsides as tangible sighs that progress is an ongoing thing and that there is a 'plan' even if I'm not sure who made it or what state of 'creative' mind they were in at the time. :)
I agree with you about construction confusion to us as we try to hold out for what will come. When it does I am always amazed at the finished product. Looking forward to seeing it - the picture on the poster looks wonderful.
