@marienzz if you want loads of feed back and views then yes following is important. It's the same for all these types of things the more active and the more you follow and comment the more you will get back.
Marie, the best way to get followers is to follow others. Most will reciprocate. The more active you are, the more active people will be on your photos. Are followers important? Well, that's really up to you. Personally, I find that the friendship that develops through the mutual exchange of comments and critiques to be very rewarding and it's the major reason I've stayed on this site for 3-years. Everyone has their own reasons for being here, though, so it's really up to you!
Best way to get followers is to follow others and to comment a lot. You could also join in on some of the competitions - they are great for finding people to follow and for learning more about photography.
Followers are only important if you want lots of comments and views. Following others is great for learning and seeing what others are doing. It's your project though, do it the way you want to.
I don't always have time to browse on the site but whenever I do, I follow as many people as get my interest going and look at different topics of discussion. Just started following everyone on this thread and hope to expand my network a little further. Believe me it works and the more feed back you get the more rewarding the project becomes!
@marienzz Yes, followers are the essence of this project! I have a little friend @nienkebotha who is 15, that you could follow too! Check her out. There are quite a few under 18s who have joined including a little girl called Zoe who is only 7! Have fun!
Hi Marie! I think followers/following others is important to help you see other images and the way people compose and create images. Practice makes perfect, right, and I think part of practicing photography is seeing what other people are doing to challenge you to be more creative.
If you're interested in getting honest feedback and critique of your images, say so directly. My experience is that everyone is really nice on this site. (Sometimes too nice and they don't want to say how you can improve things! Haha!)
Most importantly, have fun! I'm new this year too, but already feel like it's been helpful.
@marienzz Hi Marie - i echo whats been said already - also i've just had a quick look at your album a way to get to see what others do and start interactions is by looking at the tags you give images and seeing what other people have done with the same subject - i notice you # your tags - this doesn't work on 365 if you click on one of your tags you'll be taken to the tag browser page if you remove the # and click back on the tag you'll be taken to page of other peoples shots with the same tag - useful if you have particular interest of technique you want to look at sepia, B&W retro etc , and others will see your work by doing the same thing
I enjoy the encouragement and ideas I see from those who follow me and I follow. It may be time to look at those I follow to see who is no longer posting.
The most valuable follower is one who leaves comments and critiques on your pictures. So choose wisely. I am more apt to follow someone who will interact with me. I want to know what they think about and see in my pictures and I also enjoy seeing the world through their eyes. I also like to follow people who take pictures that are different from mine. I find this to be very inspiring and it helps me to think outside my comfort zone sometimes and try new techniques or shots. As has already been mentioned, the best way to get followers is to follow others and comment on their pictures. Best wishes and happy shooting!
As people have said before, I have spent a lot of time on this site following and commenting on other people's pictures and whilst it is time consuming, it is also what has kept me motivated and inspired. Without the support of the people following me and supporting me, I would have probably given up on this project a while ago. As it is, I believe that it has challenged me and pushed me to increase my skills, my style and met lovely people along the way too. You get out of this site what you put in :-)
Hi Marie! Followers can be important if you want feedback/advice on your shots, of if you want people to comment. As for me, I've mostly gotten followers by taking part in the Get-Pushed challenges where you get paired with another person on 365 and issue each other a challenge. It's always interesting to read through some of the challenges created on this site, I've found many techniques that I hadn't heard of before through them.
I also like to see what others are posting and to be inspired by their work. I try to comment on pictures from people I follow, many of them will reciprocate and comment of something of yours back.
