Composition...

...as seen by a CGI artist. It's about half an hour long but discusses elements that we should all consider when "building" a photograph / picture.

I can't help feeling that if we spent a lot of time "visualizing" a scene then the moment might soon be past when the picture means anything to you though! Street photography waits for no-one!

Agreed that street photography is its own beast when it comes to composition. I've been learning that the trick is to exercise the eye so that you can "see" the scene coming together before you as it develops and then at the "decisive moment" where the scene has fully developed into a great composition then you are (hopefully) prepared. A good many of my street shots are in fact "set up" or "built" - to the extent that I find a great scene (background) that is merely missing a subject (usually person/persons) and then camp out and wait for the "right" subject to come along. Sometimes its five minutes, other times I've waited an hour. The 'process' of composition is my favorite portion of photography. Good stuff!!

Ditto for nature photography. Critters are fairly reluctant to pose and I've found they are rather poor at following direction. Even for art!

And don't even get me started on the levels of cooperation from clouds!
