I probably don't clean our hummingbird feeder as often as I should, but I do keep an eye out for any discoloration or nastiness... And I don't fill it full, so that the food doesn't sit out too long.

thanks for this @ludwigsdiana really important. feeding birds or any wildlife can be really detrimental to them through contamination or providing them with unhealthy nutrition (eg processed foods like bread or chips)

Yes! In warm weather, a black mold will grow around the openings of these feeders that is highly toxic to this tiny birds.

Yes, when my baby birds fly away, I will take their old home down and open it up to clean it out. That way it will be ready for next year! :D
