I just found this really cool site (via photographer chase jarvis' facebook) that offers FREE 'online college-like' courses in art, with a lot of the classes being about photography or photo software. IDK i thought it might be cool. I haven't taken a class yet so i can't really say how it is but it looks like it might be pretty resourceful. It's at www.creativeLIVE.com I think its brand new... but if you've taken a class how was it?
My degree is from the University of the Rigors of Life. I am sure a class can't hurt, especially if it is free. But, as we know, nothing is free, with the exception of bad advice (oh dear, I may be slamming myself here). So, you are either getting what you pay for, or there is something else to it.
I checked out the website. The Live Webcasts are free, however, most take place during working hours (8:00 - 5:00) and if you miss the live webcast there is a fee for the recorded class which can be downloaded or listened to online.
hmm.. well I can't afford to go to college. I would give anything thing to get a degree in photography but the money just isn't there for me and maybe for some other people so being able to get any kind of live tutorial where I could chat and discuss and get an instant response to my question as apposed to just reading a text (ie website or book) seemed cool to me.
this does seem cool, and i haven't researched it myself yet, but i'm sure its much much MUCH cheaper than going to college right....? i wouldn't write it off just yet nikki! if you could afford the fees for missing one or two here or there, it may be worth it..... idk.....
