Okay this isn't really to do with photography, but I found an article in the paper today which really fascinated me. How great would it be to photograph that? Their photographs are pretty lame! But anyway what an amazing discovery!!!
@minxymissk The "crap quality" is pretty typical of fast-paced editorial photography. I can't remember how many times photo editors at newspapers I'd freelance for would say "It's not about the quality, just get me that photo on time!"
@jasonbarnette I am not like that!! I work for a newspaper and magazines and I get irritated when people act like that (I'm an editor vs. photo editor)! Their loss I say!
@minxymissk I'd bet since the site is kind of crap itself (lots of ads, etc.) they didn't take the time to do anything amazing with the photos. I would have loved an awesome photo layout in my magazine or newspaper :)
@minxymissk I would often be told I had an hour to get to the location, shoot the photos, edit and caption them, then upload them to the server. If I was lucky, and I got the photos I needed within five minutes, that would have only taken me two hours in the first place.
Editorial photography is very, very tough on deadlines!
@jasonbarnette That's OK...I'm an editor but don't have those insane deadlines. I say get the awesome photo please! It's tough on deadlines but if photographers are given notice then it's not such a big deal. It's tough for breaking news but for features (which is where awesome photos would sh ne anyway) then deadlines should not be that big of an issue. My photographers have a month between the day I give them the assignments and to return them to me (for the magazines)...a few days for the newspaper when I can.
@miley89 This is a fantastic find. My family had the pleasure of visiting a real life 'working' Victorian kitchen at a very old farm in Hampshire while we living in the UK.... everything, even the old pantry, is still used as it was in the Victorian days. Made for amazing photographs too. I was lucky enough to use one for my 365 album back in April:
Would love to go and see this other one and photograph it. Awesome sharing. Thanks!
That is fascinating - but an odd story. I'm surprised that the kitchen wasn't adapted over the years rather than just completely and suddenly deserted with (presumably) an alternative kitchen set up elsewhere in the house. Great photo opps indeed, though.
What a totally AWESOME find! Thanks so much for sharing it. I would have an absolute field day there taking vintage photos. And it also looks remarkably like the kitchen in one of my all-time favorite TV shows: Upstairs Downstairs. Thanks again, Les

You're right, their photos are totally lame!
I'd give anything to be able to photograph that place! And did you see the 50 acres of land surrounding the mansion? I could spend a month there!
I'd love to see it and photograph it... or even just the surrounding area. It looks gorgeous!
