Time-lapse: Seattle to Maine in 7 days

September 20th, 2011
"A person moving from Seattle to Maine has documented their cross-country drive in a five minute time-lapse video, shot using just an Android phone.

YouTube user smithje77 took Interstate 90 across the country and decided to show the trip by mounting a Droid X phone to the dashboard. A script in Python was used to make the phone take a picture every 90 seconds.

Seven days later, this video was a result."

That's really cool. Looks like a long and boring drive though. And I was amazed how many different colours of roads there are across America. I've never seen any like those red ones before!

What does it say when you can recognize most of the scenes from Seattle to Montana at one from every ninety seconds?

@dmortega What a neat idea! It was pretty interesting to watch at 90 second clips, but it sure must have been a long drive when you think about how many of them were jampacked into a 5 minute video!

Interesting video. Though I don't think you have to drive across the country. Just use Google Street View! ;-)
