i am so amazed at how many talented photographers there are on here! if anyone is around dallas texas and is willing to offer classes or something i'm very eager to learn from different types of photographers and getting better. or if anyone is willing to help me through here i'd be greatly appreciated.
most importantly i just wish everyone here knows how talented you are.
What a sweet way to introduce yourself:) I think you'll find that the more questions you ask of everyone on here (technical tips, how they did a particular shot etc) - the more you'll learn. Most everyone I've come across this site is wonderfully accomodating about sharing their knowledge with others. Welcome to 365:)
Thanks Dawn! Welcome!
I'd love to do the same. Get together and share brain power and all that. Not too many people live around me, so i think that's a no-go.
I think you'll find that you'll learn plenty here. I know I have!
Just by reading discussions, asking questions, paying attention to peoples settings and being inspired.
She's talking about me. All of that was about me. I can't believe @pwallis didn't just go ahead and say, "Hey, Dawn, all you need is Jason." Seriously? Seriously.
I've been checking out your photos each day. I was waiting to see if you were really committed before deciding to follow you. I've got a lot of dead people I follow right now. But if you're here to stay, I'm here to help.
Helping others is one of the reasons I joined this site. I write tutorials on my blog from time to time, I offer advice and tips on photos, and I write loads on my own photos. Some of it is even kinda helpful. Sometimes.
If you want to learn, and you're dedicated to it, I'll teach you everything I know.
@shutterbugger Erm...well...been on the site since Jan 1...got a little distracted there for awhile...came back with a bigger ego and naked photos of myself...what else can I say?
I'm definitely here to stay though. And I'm always glad to help.
Also Arlington Camera is holding the first annual Dallas Photo Expo in Grapevine on Dec 3rd and 4th. There will be lots of vendors there and also free seminars on a variety of topics. http://dfwphotoexpo.com
There are some other people from Dallas on here and it would be cool to get a bunch of us together some day and go out shooting.
@mej2011 Ya know, this is supposed to be Dawn's thread.
Then again...she did encourage Paula when she was being stubborn with me.
So I'm thinking I'll just hijack another thread with my awesomeness. Dawn needs to go ahead and see this anyways. Unfortunately, you can't get my advice/tips/knowledge without the awesomeness.
@jasonbarnette How did I know this would deteriorate into something involving your self proclaimed awesomeness and jabs at others lameness? Cause I'm so freakin clairvoyant! When I first saw the thread post I was like I should mention Jason, he's always helpful, quickly followed up by I bet he has already commented! Sho nuff.......(you do have some great tutorials though)
@shadesofgrey Haha...thanks. Hey, do me a favor? Follow Dawn. She's only got four photos thus far, but I think she's got some talent there. She really wants to learn and from time to time you're actually kinda helpful haha.
And you can blame it on Holly. I was supposed to be out with her tonight, but she got called into work at the last minute so I'm stuck at home editing today's photos, watching the Packmen play, sipping a cold one.
@jasonbarnette - send a little of the awsomeness my way would ya? LOL. Seriously, you seem like you love to help so if you get bored one day, check out my project and start talking, good bad ugly, I'll take it all if it helps me get better.
@katiebrenkert Sorry...but my awesomeness cannot be separated from me. It just doesn't work like that hahaha. I am now following you which should, at the very least, make you feel fuzzy and warm inside. I'll help in any way I can. Never hesitate to ask!
@d4wn Welcome to 365!! I've learned so much here. Be sure to read the discussions. There are some real gems that pop up. Also check out the website Digital Photography School and Jim Harmer's website "Improve Photography"
@jasonbarnette All joking aside, after checking out your blog I can see I will soon be spending a lot of time reading your tutorials starting with "Camera Basics". Thanks so much for spending the time to put that together. I've decided that January will be the month that I swith to manual. So I'll be reading up on it in the meantime.
@herussell You're very much welcome! A year ago one of my good friends from high school decided she wanted to upgrade to a DSLR. We spent weeks looking and we finally got her a Nikon D200. But she was completely overwhelmed by all those buttons! haha
So, I spent weeks writing those tutorials to help her take manual control of her camera. By the time I was done writing them and she was done reading them, she was proficient with her camera. She know shoots about one wedding a month as a side job since she mostly looks after her two kids.
@shadesofgrey Love how everyone though the "contest" was a nude one. Hey I'm all for all of us getting drunk and shooting nude photos but I just don't think that's ever gonna happen. Maybe *I* should be drinking when I shoot these photos, huh?
I just bought 48 lightbulbs haha. Check your stock. You just got a bonus.
@jasonbarnette I know....thats awesome, nude and drunk.....sounds like a good night! I'm using my bonus to buy my bulbs....thanks for buying them for me!
@shadesofgrey I'd give you a hint as to what I'm doing, but then I'd actually enjoy killing you. I wonder if Dawn still gets a notification every time I continue to hijack her discussion?
@jasonbarnette I know she does.... I have no idea of what you are doinjg ... all the better because then you can't say I cheated when I put something amazing up!

@d4wn I'd quit if you asked.....I think if @jasonbarnette starts another discussion Ross will probably ban him, I think he is averaging 1 a day right now!
@shadesofgrey Actually one a day is about right, what's wrong with that? People are sharing photos, following each other, and it's always something new? Haha...if Ross actually banned me man...that would be something
Oh...and no fancy quotes. I'll win haha. But yeah Dawn gets a notification each time so we'll give her a break and continue this somewehre else...after I win haha
Hi Dawn! Welcome to 365. I live in a very rural area so have to learn all I can through the internet and photography books. Oh, and practice, practice, practice. Above all, have fun with your project because this site is full of fantastic, helpful people :)
@d4wn Hi Dawn.. I invite you to look at my pictures and anytime you have questions what ever it may be I'll be more than happy to help. Kid of late to say welcome to 365 but I'll say it anyway.. Welcome to 365.
I'd love to do the same. Get together and share brain power and all that. Not too many people live around me, so i think that's a no-go.

Great, you just created an even bigger monster than Jason's ego already was, with that Lord comment. lol.

Ha ha! Unfortunately, I think the voices in his head encourage him.
Your guilt trip has no power over me.
@mej2011 Unfortunately, I'd like your opinion, too, but you never responded to my message I so carefully crafted earlier today. Lame!
You want my opinion as to whether or not you should get a sexy secretary?
Okey dokey.
Someone is gonna ask about that one day. I wonder what story they will hear?
Nah...I'm emailing you something, slacker. Soon as I remember where you put that email address haha.
Hi Dawn, I'm near Dallas! Nice to meet you! :o)
And you can blame it on Holly. I was supposed to be out with her tonight, but she got called into work at the last minute so I'm stuck at home editing today's photos, watching the Packmen play, sipping a cold one.
We still on for that competition next week?
