I have no intention of ever doing wedding photography but I thought others may be interested in reading this. If you are interested or already doing this type of photography, this is a great reminder to stay focused on the personal memories you are capturing for the bride and groom.
I dunno - I guess I don't see how the two are mutually exclusive. Just because the photographer pops off a couple of shots of the flowers and the candles doesn't mean he's NOT shooting photos of Meemaw and Papaw. Wedding blogs aren't going to buy photos of Meemaw and Papaw, that's just a fact. Too many issues with licensing, model releases, etc., and it's not their subject matter, to boot.
Now, if your photographer is shooting nothing but the doodads, that's a different story - but I don't see how a photographer doing that would stay in business for long.
""Wedding bloggers have made it clear that inspiration blogs are the future of advertising in the wedding industry "" (and this is where I stopped reading)
I don't do weddings, at least not the formal shots, I will take photos around the event and present them to the bride and groom. It is their day, it is not a commercial activity.
I did that for a friend, they were so busy dealing with all the details, that they didn't remember much of the wedding day, except via the pictures.
@jasehoad LOL - you do have a good point, though. I almost felt like the blogger was making an issue where there really isn't one, to drive traffic/comments. Sort of like TMZ. :)
I'm with @beautifulthing I highly doubt the photographers are just skipping everything, and just doing detail shots. Who wants to go to a blog and see the formal family portraits? I agree that it just sounds like a way to drive traffic. They probably get ad revenue or something from blog traffic...

My 2 cents.
