@sweett awesome photography! hopefully i'll be able to do some nude photography like this someday. This style is intriguing and a very intricate form of art. I like the composition of this piece. natural lighting practicals. just a simple two pose. very well done piece.
I'm a fan of self expression, in whatever form it takes, and I have no issue with other people's nudity. I think the nude form, both male and female, is magnificent - no matter it's shape or size. But I'm the mother of a young girl, so what I think may be artistic today, could come back to bite me in my nekkid ass, years down the road - which is why you'll NEVER see a nudie shot of me on here, so I'll just live vicariously through y'all:)
@pwallis As a fellow mom, I understand your point, but on the other hand, if we as mothers and role models for these young girls don't celebrate our bodies and show them that we love ourselves, flaws and all, how will they learn to love themselves?
... at least that's how I'll justify it to my kids should they come across my stash. lol
@curiousmomworm Oh don't get me wrong, I'm the first person to encourage a love of self in young women. I actually started Make-up Free Day last year for that very reason. So my daughter doesn't have to grow up with unrealistic ideals of beauty - put upon us by the media. I just don't think putting myself out there anonymously on the internet is the way I want to get that point across to my daughter. I think there's plenty of ways I could come to regret that decision at some point. I think in cases of the internet - one shouldn't just think twice, but perhaps 3 or even 4 times before posting. Once it's up there, it's up there. And if someone's already grabbed that image of you when you decide you no longer want it up there? Too bad, it's not yours anymore.
That's not to say I'm judging anyone else's decision to put their nudity out there, what an exhilerating sense of freedom that must bring. I just choose to do my trailblazing on different trails, is all:)
"If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me" - the oldest chatup line in the world. But if someone said that to me these days I would know they were lying. Getting old sucks. Also, I'm just crap at selfies full stop, though when the weather gets better I might try some suitably abstract nude selfies. Never say never!
I've just read the discussion title again, and it didn't say 'selfies'. I LOVE nude photos of other people. Did that come out wrong? Oh well. I used to do a lot of life drawing, and I'm a Myofascial Release therapist (bodyworker/massage therapist) by profession, so the human body fascinates me, and the fewer clothes the better. BTW I treat people with their underwear on. Just wanted to make that clear...
@pwallis I completely agree with you and your viewpoint--it's a public forum and while I have no issues with nudity/nudity for art/hooray, we all have bodies that are naked under our clothes, there are some weirdos out there. (Not to mention, it may come back and bite you in the butt when it comes to showing up at the next PTA meeting and I would hate to do anything to embarrass my children). There are other ways to show your kids you're proud of your body than posting a naked selfie online for any Joe Blow to google at. Even in an artistic forum.
@elke I really like that I've come across a some of your photos in the past few days and each time thought "Who is this chick, I wanna follow her!" Only to scroll back up and realize I'm already following you. lol I really like the second one you posted.
I probably would not do a selfie of any kind at any time, much less a naked selfie. But I have no objection to others, and enjoy seeing them. Everyone has such different approaches, it's quite interesting.
I have no issue with looking at them, but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to post my own. I'd certainly be happy to take them (it's even a plan to do soon) and if they were good enough, I may even display them in my home. I'm just too aware of people online who may not view it as art and I don't want people coming across them either. I'm proud of my body, but that doesn't mean that I would choose to show it off to the world either. :-)
@grammyn@wormentude none of mine...I pick the audience. I guess that photographers are not generally the sort to stand in front of nudes in an art gallery pointing and giggling. Sad to say, I'm pretty sure some of the people I know on FB are.
Also my husband doesn't mind me posting them here but says no to FB as there's a boundary in his head.
I've been doing a few to send to hubby while he is away for a month at work (to keep the fires burning so to speak) All more boudoir and not totally nude, and tasteful to the extent that, if they were to accidentally be seen by eyes other than his, I wouldn't be embarrassed (and NEVER to be posted on FB).
On another note, if you have an iPhone, there's a great remote shutter release app called DSLR Camera Remote that, when you tether camera to computer, use your iPhone to control the shot. I've found the pro version very handy, because I can change every setting on my camera while not moving from a pose, and can even use "live view" to see how the shot will look before I release the shutter.
this was my first and only. may be more to come.. i'm not sure yet. im pretty self concious and this was just to prove that i could. and i still debate on taking it down.
