I need rain that looks less uniform...any ideas?

January 27th, 2014
This is my entry for the wwyd101 challenge. Therefore I didn't take this shot, I only edited it. Generally speaking I like it, and the fact that I was able to get the rain to look like this is nothing short of a miracle...I am still quite the newbie when it comes to editing.

So, my question is this...now that I have looked at it for a while I am noticing that the rain looks too uniform...any ideas on how I can get it to look more realistic?

Are you using real rain?

This chap has a few hints on how to make the rain look a little less intense (but it is fifteen minutes long). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXQSaMZlA5s

use real rain. take a photo against a dark background using flash perhaps then use layer effects to lose the black sky and layer the rain over the image.

@Yes, Photoshop Elements 11.

@swilde No, I added noise using Photoshop and then used motion blur to slant it and I desaturated it to make it less intense. I used a tutorial I found on Google.

@chewyteeth Hmmm, I didn't think of that! I don't think I ha a pic that would fit the bill at the moment, so I will have to wait till the weather gets out of the single digits! lol OR...I could change it t a winter scene!

Use a watering can in front of your camera.
