How can I "save" my photo?

June 30th, 2014
I took a photo of a bald eagle today. I was really happy to get the opportunity for the shot, but I was on a tour boat passing by and only had a couple of seconds to snap the shot. It turns out that my settings were off so the pic turned out...overexposed? I only have basic editing so any advice on improve this shot would be great. Or free software that I can download that would be helpful.
Thanks!

Picmonkey for windows is free.There are lots of free iPhone and iPad apps too. You can play with cropping and exposure etc...in any of these programs.Good luck!

@mzzhope I tried Picmonkey on this site, but it wouldn't let me go less exposure. It was already set to the lowest.

Overall, it's really not bad, but ff you want, send me the original file and I'll see what I can do.

Honestly, picmonkey can do quite a bit, you just have to get to know it. I actually use it more than photoshop and yes, I get a lot of crap for it too. lol By the way, it's an awesome shot regardless, I'm sorry I cant be more helpful :/

I would go back to Picmonkey and play with different settings. Also in the exposure tab, you can try increasing the shadows, or decreasing the contrast or brightness. It's great that you got the Eagle. I like your capture a lot.

GIMP takes some playing with to get things done, also free.

Ribbet is similar to Picmonkey. You should be able to play around with it on there to get something better. I don't know if you'll get the clarity you want on this shot there but you'll certainly be able to play with the color. I've also another on-line freebie site called used iPiccy and one called BeFunky. I hope you're able to fix your picture- how exciting to see a Bald Eagle!

I did a quick save on this shot on ipiccy. com this AM . The site is totally free and there is so much you can do, I cropped, uncentered, boosted the saturation & did some playing with the contrast. I can't send the result here but can e-mail it to you if you'd like. Other sites I've used that are free are Befunky and ribbet. Picmonkey is pretty good but not all there is free.

@teresaf

FastStone is a good program free to download, you will just be asked for a one-off, but voluntary, very modest donation.

You're an ace member, so you should be able to use all aspects of picmonkey from 365.

@mzzhope @jasonayer @etchasketch1 @mbemis @byrdlip @olivetreeann @cimes1 @quietpurplehaze @3rdxoff @roulin

Thanks everybody. I think I will play some more with Picmonkey.
And Thanks Jason! That looks really good. When I was playing with it, I couldn't get the head with good clarity. Was that done with Picmonkey? Or something else?

@miata2u @mzzhope Thank you.

@teresaf I did it in Photoshop. It was a little more complicated than I originally anticipated. I ended up having to use layers so the grass would go to dark and then clean up his head where the color started to pixelate. Glad you like it.
