lenses... Anyone use old lenses on newer cameras?

Not sure if this has been posted before or not. but I am new and wanted to jump into the discussion part of this site :)

I have a Canon XTI ( WISH I could afford a better one) and I was given 2 old lenses. one is a SMC pentax 50 1.4 and the other is a Cimko 80-200 I bought an adapter for them and love using them on my Canon...

I was wondering if anyone does this as well... :)

well I don't need an adapter... but I use old K-mount and M42 lens all the time... kinda in love with my 500mm f/8 M42 lens and 400mm f/5.6 K-mount... not the best lenses... but they add a flavour to the photos...

@saclunch you got that free... it is likely the most looked for lens that pentax ever made... outside the crazy long stuff... if you ever want to sell it... I am buying... send the invoice to jra @ sasktel. net via paypal....

my friends grandmother passed away and my friend gave me all her camera gear and lenses :) I had no idea it was rare to find.

@saclunch I've tried, but the old lenses I bought before digital just don't work on mine. Comes up with a very interesting error message which of course I don't remember.

All my other lenses are screw mount and wouldn't work if I tried, though I'm sure there's an adAPter for that.
