I like it.It has an interesting contrast.Reminds me of one of those fairy tales where everything comes into life little by little when the color is slowly added from a black and white screen...
A little too dark for my taste, but good detail, highlight and depth of field. What would you use it for? (Story/emotion/scenic) Technically good, (to me, a newbie), but doesn't excite me.
I like it. But I agree with @dmortega - if you crop about 1 inch off the right, it would look better and be less distracting. It would also alter how dark the photo feels cos that's the darkest area.
I like it but the contrast bugs me. Maybe it's just me but I think if the leaves were a bit more greener (is that a word?) it would be a little better. But I'm an ameteur, so don't listen to what I say D:
I like it, i think the amount of brown is a bit distracting, and because the contrast isn't high, the true subject is lost. can you darken the black values a little in the tree part maybe?
It's cool photographically (is that a word!?), but I think I'm not sure about it because one is not sure what emotion it's supposed to convey. It seems like a picture needs to have a message, a purpose, a story, to be really strong.
But if you had a poignant story, it could definitely be a poignant picture.
I like the subject and composition, although it could use with a little judicious cropping. The picture feels dark, but I think the real problem is that your value and color spectrum is too narrow; it's muddy. Either just a skosh more contrast or a bit more color and I think it would fix it.
I personally like lots of bright colors, so while this may not be my most favorite shot, I think it is completely YOU. By looking at your photos, you have a very defined style...which I think is great! You're doing an excellent job.
i like it,i think a touch more green in the ivy would help so that it pops out a bit more but until i see it like that i can't be sure as that might just stop it from working completely
I think if you reshot this in more sunlight and threw the blurry parts even more out of focus it would great. I see what you're going for here and I like it!
Well, it can be nice, but it is flat, and the lighting is dull and uninviting, and there is no central subject focus. The DOF is kind of off to one side too.
I took a similar shot today, but the plant was grass and not ivy. My photo turned out dark too. If this was my picture, I would crop the right side and try to add contrast and brighten up the shot.
I like it but would bring back some of the green. I disagree with the cropping though. I think it tells a story that it is vining down and going out of focus. Are you working in photoshop or lightroom, but the way?
Actually, I am glad you are using lightroom. My thoughts for the pic were to bring the color back and pull the orange down, toning down the bark but leaving the leaves their nice green. I hope you don't mind my opinion, just what I would do. :) I like the pic though.
It's a tad too monochromatic for me. The leaves blend too much with the wood. Perhaps if you tweaked it a bit and made the leaves pop a bit more to give it some flavor and depth, you would enjoy it more. Overall, the composition is good.
Let me tell you, It reminds me distinctly of Lord Of the Rings, that's why I love it. Why It's a good photo is because it's breaking all the right photography rules. You have the beautifully colored target centered, there is fantstic contrast and shading, fantastic blur affect, and the dark tone adds flare. LOVE IT, LOVE IT!
