The new season of camera club starts in September, and the monthly competition themes have already been published in order to give us time to start working on them. September's theme is "Reflections, as seen through the camera."
I loved this reflection that I caught yesterday morning at Chincoteague, but i didn't like the composition with the entire bird plus reflection. It was too rectangular. Does this composition work? Is that water droplet spot in the upper left hand corner adding to the story, or is it too blurry and hurting? Is this worthy of competition, or no?
I would want to lose the droplet - way too distracting. It's a fascinating image. I just played with holding a card up over the screen and preferred it halved to that you just the one wing reflected with the live one above. But that is a very personal view, of course!
Yes, I'd do the same as Casablanca as well- clone out the droplet which actually becomes unnecessary if you crop the picture so that just the lower wing reflects the upper wing. You might have to clone out some of the darkest wing for a proper balance- but maybe not- play with it and see.
With the whole bird in the reflection, I think the "live" wing is a distraction. I don't mind the droplet. @casablanca has a cool idea to crop out everything except the wing on the right and its reflection. That's a very interesting composition.

ANY and ALL CC will be greatly appreciated!!
