Opinions please

I am a fairly new photographer and am just learning all I can...opinions on this photo would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It's a good photo, but what kind of feed back are you looking for? What were you trying to achieve?
I could say that to me the color is too muted, but that may have been the effect you were going for.. :)

The expressionon her face is great; is this a prom picture? :D I really like this. The only thing I'd change is the coloring - I'd love to see moreof the dress. But that's just me lately: prom obsessed!

I agree with the others. I'd also make a crop of just her head - possibly down to the bottom of her hair for a crisp black/white shot. Very nice photo though!

It's a lovely shot but I do agree with the others about some colour, that would just set a spark in the shot.

I like it, and I quite like the colouring - although I can see what everyone else is saying, I think it works very well as it is. My comment would be that she needs to be sharper; she doesn't quite stand out in the photo enough because of the slightly busy background. Maybe you could have taken the photo somewhere else with a different background, or just edited it so she stands out a bit more..

Other than that, I think it's lovely. You have captured a gorgeous expression and I hope, whoever she is, she really likes it :D

she's a stunning model and everything about her pose and the composition is great. For me the tones were not the first thing that jumped at me, i quite like them - the background did - it is a little distracting and becasue it is slightly off straight sort of leaps out at me. (sorry i'm one who likes order!!). Personally i would try and blur/knock back the background so it's less prominant. Other than that a great shot. ;o)

Beautiful photo. I'd keep the elbows, keep the left hand and obviously keep the head. Crop the top by about 10%. This will take away the horizontal line at the top that you may like, but will also keep the focus on the face.

She needs some space into which to move. To ease the tension in the shot, it needs more space on the left. It is also cropped really tight on the left regardless, with her fingers touching the left of the frame, making it seem awkward (somewhat similar to an awkwardly cropped limb). As has been said, there's a bit much space (proportionally, though I'd argue only proportionally) at the top - I don't think it needs cropping in, but rather that the image needs opening up to the left. If this is how it was shot, it could be helped by cropping in from the top and the right (even if the crop intersected her right elbow).

The light is good, though the contrasty aspect of the treatment means her eyes lack detail - you see whites, and essentially black - I'd back it off a little.

The background, in this monotone/sepia, is similar to her skin tone. This means there is no real contrast between background and subject (local contrast), so she's a bit lost in it. That's already been said, in different words.

Highlight control is not bad (it might actually be a little undercooked, but not by much), and you can see most of the overall details, but it is a bit lacking in midtones which is making the shot a little flat - lots of light and shadow, but the midtones have suffered (see comment about the detail in the eyes).

The angle is neither "angled" nor "flat" which means that background looks "not quite straight". It is usually best, with a repeating pattern background, to shoot at more of an angle, or totally flat, so that it doesn't distract.

Lastly, her left arm looks a little awkward, because you can't see the forearm at all - the hand sticks out of the upper arm. A step to the left might have solved a few issues in one, well, step.

But, great shot. It's a keeper for sure!

Great photo. 2 things.

1.) Step back a bit. Being too close can be problematic when wanting to enlarge. If it was good at 5x7, you may cut off part of her head with an 8x10.

2.) Beautiful pic and processing, but I don't care for the pose. It looks like she is about to be happily patted down by the Police. But that's just what I saw.

Keep up the good work!

i agree with the others i like it but the colour is a bit weak, would look nice in b&w

I'm with the others when it comes to coloring, b&w would look nice. try to take pictures that aren't posed. that will give them a more natural look
