I'm A Novelist, Not A Photographer

April 30th, 2010
I write books. And aside from using the camera on my phone, not much of a photographer. I am trying to take pictures and document them as an almost visual autobiography. Raw and honest. But I don't know if it works -- especially with my lack of photo skills ... would love some feed back on if the description and images work on telling a story, my story ...

Hi Phillip, and welcome to 365! I like your approach, doing this as a dairy / story. I think that after 365 days you'll have created something great.

I set out to simply add a picture a day and maybe improve / appreciate my awareness of what is around me and possibly learn a bit about photography too.

I do quite alot of writing too and I find that the discipline of 365 and some of the ideas and inspiration it triggers really helpful - stick with it!

Maybe you are a photographer and just don't realize it yet . . . whatever means you choose to express yourself to the world, just do it to the best of your ability - that's the way I look at it....and do it for your own personal gratification, if others enjoy what you put out there - then *snap* it's a bonus! Last, but not least, you may find that this 365 experience helps you see and experience your surroundings in such a new and wonderful way that your writing benefits from it!
have fun, I look forward to reading your posts everyday

I just looked at your photos, and yes they do tell a story. I'm also one who does not consider myself a photographer -- at least not trained to be one -- but like the previous poster said . . . if others enjoy what you put out there . . . how great is that.

Wow. Thank you for the support. That is very encouraging. And validating. I will press on. And, well, thank you, again!
