June 8th, 2011
***First post ever ;)***

I'm going to enter The National Countryside Photography competition.

http://www.greatbritishlife.co.uk/article/the-national-countryside-photography-competition-31236/

There are lots of people on here that probably should enter too, so there's the link although I really don't need the competition!

I Was hoping for some constructive criticism on these two specific photos as i'd really like to give it my best shot (excuse the pun) and i'm also in direct competition with my aunt who's also entering!
I know there are lots of seasoned professionals and people with very good eyes on here who might see something I haven't that will improve them. Opinions desired!

Also I'd love to hear if anyone else enters or has entered!

So here goes... photo one, viewed best large because its a panoramic and 365 isnt really suited.

And photo two....Tried to make them both different

Critique please!
Will love to see anyone else's entries from 365!

I love the contrasts in the second pic, the dramatic sky, the yellow of the field and the red dress drawing your eye right into the photo.

I definitely like the second photo better. The colors are very dramatic and since they are the 3 primary colors they make the picture kinetic. I agree with Karen- the second picture pulls you into the moment. You feel the breeze across the field and soak in the expanse of the sky. If the competition is about the countryside, the second definitely brings you into the feel of the landscape and makes you really want to be there. The composition is excellent as well. It's balanced by thirds which focus on the horizon, but the figure also leads your eyes vertically. It has a wonderful sweeping feeling to it. Great job and good luck!
