@brandilynn Is this a senior portrait? Self portrait? Oh, wait, I see, it's a pic of your sister. It's a nice pose/angle, but IMO, the vignette is too heavy.
I see that she is crying but the viewer has to be looking really carefully to see it. I'm not sure what the answer to fixing this is (other than non-waterproof mascara). Maybe others would know
The eyes aren't sharp, if you have a post processing program, you can try and fix it....and I agree with the vignette comments above. I do like the angle and position of the subject, very reflective.
It seems a bit blurry to me. I agree with the vignette comments. What was the idea behind this? I'm curious because @herussell says there is a tear, but I'm having trouble seeing it. It could be my screen, but yeah, what's the story behind this?
Actually, I quite like the vignette effect - to me it says that she is in a tunnel of despair.
I can see the tear, but only cos others noticed. Maybe more onions needed.
this was an idea for my project for digital photography. an english class had to write 6 words stories. and they teacher gave them to the photography classes and we had to take a picture that would fit the story. my store is "it;s just me, myself and i" im still trying to get a good picture for the story
@brandilynn I think what you have is pretty solid in terms of the story - I actually think staying with almost just what you have, but making things a little simpler, would convey it. I'd lose the tear, if it is there (I'm not sure I can see it myself). I'd tone down the vignette just a bit, and I'd try for more of a focus on the face, instead of the general blur here.
Those are all just things I would try - YMMV. That actually sounds like a pretty cool assignment and I think you are doing a great job with it so far - seems like you are really putting a lot of thought into it, which is cool!
I agree with pretty much everything everyone else has said I think the angle is great and the capture is really nice. I too thought I saw a tear and think that if you want to keep the tear cause it dose had a nice emotion to the picture then you need to make it stand out more (know I am not sure how to do that... srry wish I could tell you) but I think that would help or just take it out . I too love vintage and just try fading it into the picture more but over all I love the this picture good job!!! And that is a really cool assignment I hope you have alot of fun doing it!!! :)
I think it goes great with "its just me, myself and I" I especially like that she's holding the post - it's like that's the only thing she has to hold onto or something. Good job!
I could see the tear very clearly myself, but I believe that you get a better effect if you use something quite viscous. In the days of b&w films they used glycerine It stays put rather better and gives a darker shadow. I agree with b-rock though.
