I've been asked by someone just starting their career as a realtor, if I would like to be her photographer when she has homes to sell, for her website and the flyers/listing. I'd be taking pics of both in and around the home of course and would be paid for each home visit. She said to let her know what my fee would be. Hmmm, I have no idea!! Does anyone do this? I just want a very rough idea as I know that different states (here in the US) will have different fees perhaps. Any help/advice is very welcome!
I spoke with the guy who shot images for my realtor back when I sold my house, a couple years ago. He was doing the 365 virtual tour images, with a special tripod head, and stitching all the images together.
If my memory serves me correct, he was charging $60 per house for that type of service.
My mother-in-law happens to be a realtor in Denver and she just mentioned to me, she pays a photographer $150 each time they come to a home to take pictures of the home. She then takes the photos and uses a program to splice them together so she can create a virtual tour. Hope this helps?! Sounds like it would be a great opportunity!!
great idea, but to make rooms look larger and more spacious they recommend a wide angle lens which is a bit of an investment. Also may want to learn how to seam panoramas together from what I have seen on websites recently.
Since most realtors don't have the business they had about 6 or 7 years ago, a lot of them have started just shooting their own pics. I'm sure what you'd take, even without a wide-angle lens would be a vast improvement just from your perspective and quality of the shots. I'd pull back from doing a lot of editing or that time spent will eat up whatever you earn. I'm sure they just want nice, clear, pictures that will show off the room nicely.
@brumbe - thanks for your comment Paula, I appreciate it! @mwarren365 - Ha, yes it sure would! @debsphotos - yes very true! As I don't have a wide angle lens yet, I would certainly be making do with what I've got and I think I could do well. Perhaps if this takes off, then investing in one would be cool! Thanks for your input! @toast - thanks so much for the link. I think I will save for one from the money I make. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
I was looking at becoming a contractor for one of the companies that does the 360 virtual tours. They said the required equipment was a 10-20mm wide angle lens and a pano head. There are do it yourself pano heads that work just fine or you can buy them. Also a stable tripod. If you are just taking photos, you might not need that wide of an angle but it would probably help.

Not TOO bad price wise and you may find that it pays for itself... then you get to use it for yourself for free :)
