As long as the camera bag goes with your outfit, you'll do fine. No.....I'm kidding. Congrats on your new camera! I'm envious. I'm still shooting with my P&S. Good luck and have fun!
I have the previous version of this camera and LOVE it! I made the jump from film just before Christmas. I still think film does a better job in tricky exposures, capturing a wider range of light - but otherwise, I love this camera. I even use the video feature once in a while, but it is hard to hand hold steady while using the live view. Congratulations on your upgrade.
I think you are wise to hang on to the P&S for certain occasions. I wouldn't mind a pocket camera for parties etc, but I think you'll find the quality of pictures so far superior, you won't mind the big camera most of the time.
One thing that helped me really get going with my camera (besides the 365 project) was the book on the 500D by David D. Busch. (Ti1 is the American name for my model) I'll bet he has a book on the 550D - or will soon.
HAPPY SHOOTING!
Congrats on the upgrade. You say you don't want to carry the big camera i feel you will soon find that you can no longer stand point and shoots and that the dslr is the only way to take pictures. Thats what happened to me.
Good choice! I have a Canon as well, and you'll notice the difference, and love it!
Just play around with all the different settings and you'll get the hang of it in no time!
congrats Michelle! I have the 450D and love it. Definately a smart idea to keep a hold of the happy snappy camera, there will be times when you dont want to be burdened with the 550 and just want a quick snap shot of something. Hope you enjoy learning the camera
