@rich57 nice. in black and white you can sort of get away with it being "grain". i've never gone to 3200 before though. 1600 is normally my highest ISO. 2000 is "in case of emergency, break glass"
@scatochef This was a mistake. I'd just got my new canon and accidentally set the ISO to 3200! But I've found that actually high ISO works well for street shots, especially as the light dims.
I shoot fashion type work, and tend to keep my ISO low at 50-100. Apparently that carries over into all of my work. This is my highest so far in the project at 2500.
My next highest is 1000, from there its the occasional 400.
I mainly utilize high ISO for football - whether indoors out in a dome, the lighting is always awful and I don't have a 200mm f/2 lens in my bag yet. :)
Here are a few from my project
ISO 6400 (Outdoor night game)
ISO6400 (Outdoor night game)
ISO 1250 (Indoor domed stadium - Dallas Cowboys Stadium)
ISO 1250 (Indoor domed stadium - Dallas Cowboys Stadium)
@sdpace impressive 6400 ISO shots! I've never ever tried this with my D90, that's interesting! I'm curious, did you use the noise reduction function, or did you edit for noise reduction? Your pics looks so smooth, but in the same time sharp enough on the focused parts. It works well with these action shots.
I've never tried to higher the ISO on purpose, I mean to make a grainy pic. This is an interesting idea, I'll have to put this on my to-do list.
3200 ISO
@polarvrtx Especially like the top one!
ISO 2500
ISO4000
ISO3200
Hmmm... more than a 1/3 of my images are shot at ISO3200. Thank god for LR3 noise reduction and improvements in sensor technology.

This was on 2500, extremely high for a gal who usually shoots at 100.
& this one at 1600
here's mine, took it tonight, 6400 hand held, and for my first intentionally high iso, i'm very happy with it ;)
