Hi all! I wanted a way to organize my Popular Page appearances so I could analyze some of my strengths. Soooo, I created a special tag for them and went back to add it to the photos. Has anyone else done that? If so, feel free to share the tag below so we can check out your accomplishments! If not, maybe you want to go back and do it. Or, you could also do a separate tag for challenge/theme wins.
I was just thinking about this today as I am losing track, great idea!
I've tagged mine with "pp" so anyone can search for pp photos, and "aa-pp-ftw" so I can search for my individual PP's. I do the same with top 5, using "t5" and "aa-t5-ftw" :)
I just recently started marking mine PP although I haven't had a lot to make it yet. I wish I could remember if how many of my top 10 made it to the PP.
Never thought of that! I wish they would notify us when they are PP because they don't always stay there that long and I sure some 365ers don't even know their picture made it there.
I tagged mine too although I dont have very many so the page looks a little bland! Hopefully I'll pick it up here in my last 4 months! http://365project.org/tags/937katieb-pp
By the way, an eternal doubt of mine: a photo appearing bigger in Popular means more popular than others? Because @bobbyj photo went straight to the top of the week and is appearing small in POP. I does not make sense.
(and yeah, i know i should not be bothered by trying to understand the pop page, but i thought hey, there's no prob in asking...)
nice idea, wasn't going to bother but it's actually fun looking back through although my memory is fairly shot these days... http://365project.org/tags/rich57-pp
@tigerdreamer@crickle1969 There's really no notification if your shot makes popular page, but usually someone will comment on it to tell you. You really just need to check the popular page often. Also, if you start getting a lot of comments and favs (especially from people not following you), that's a good sign that you are there as well.
@gabrielklee the size of the image on the pop page is random and not reliant on popularity as you will notice if you go to the pop page and refresh it a couple of times
I did it too though I have very few. If I've had more, then I've forgotten which ones they were. Maybe I can had a few more sometime too. http://365project.org/tags/scm%20pp
I do believe if you can get a picture of a flower, a sunset, a cat, a water crown (all together) with whole lot of bokeh, and then grind it through some HDR software until it's unrecognizable, you're guaranteed pop page 4 life.
@gurry Been here 3 years and I'm afraid i'm beginning to agree with you! Haven't tagged my PP pictures really who cres except yourself and i save mine to a folder of my own. Sorry, got my cynical Saturady hat on!
@tinatmmc - There is a problem with your logic because making the PP is not based purely on having a great photo. It does not work that way. Instead it is based on a mathematical equation. So it is possible, and happens often, that there may be a great photo that does not appear on the page because you may have had some other great photos in too recent a time span getting favs, thereby making it more difficult, and even near impossible, for the most recent great photo to make it. I have had many photos make the Top 20 without ever appearing on PP.
@michaelelliott I know that argument has been made a hundred times on here, but I still feel like they are some of my best pictures and the ones people liked for a reason (maybe it's not a great photo, but it was creatively done, for example). I have some that never made PP that are rated higher in my top ten than ones that did, but that's what my top ten is for...already organized. Plus, it's a great way to remember what you accomplished with which photos. You should do a Top 20 tag for yours :)
I don't understand the 365 statistics at all. My own top 10 make no sense at all; there are photos on the list that are boring, have few views and fewer comments and... did I mention they are boring? But others that I love, that have lots of views, aren't on that top 10.
No matter, 4 photos to go and I've had so much fun with the 365 Project. I'm a better photographer and my friends have enjoyed my progress. In my own head, I'm very popular!

Thanks @beautifulthing for the "ftw" idea too :)

Here are mine - http://365project.org/tags/lluniau-pp
@michaelelliott you could always tag your appearances on the top20 page as something else, if you want...
