Hi,
I'm doing a period, the 1940s, photo shoot (with a Model A) for a couple of friends and was wondering if any one could help with ideas for poses? Please share ideas and maybe examples! Thanks!!
How much access will you have to the car? Meaning, I've seen pics where the people are inside the car, one person might be hanging off the running board with the door open. Things like that.
One of my favorite portraits of my grandparents (taken in the 40's) was of them sitting on the front lawn, My grandmother was a little in front of my grandpa, but still off to the side. She had a HUGE hat on and was turned to face him. You could not see either face, but the implication was that they were kissing. She was in a nice, but not dressy dress and he was dressed as if they were ready for a date. He had his knee bent and his arm draped over his knee and my grandma had one hand on the back of her hat to hold it on.
@kerristephens Hi, Kerri, here's a copy of a photo taken of my husband's grandmother and her sisters, probably in the 30s, based on her age. (She will be 102 years old in a couple weeks.) I though you might like to see it.
but I saw 40s and presumed pinup since thats all the rage, if you didn't mean girly pinup and are trying to recreate 1940s outfits then ignore the links above they are for pinup.
@chewyteeth Thanks, I was actually trying to recreate the '40s look. The girls already have the outfits and my brother let them use his '31 Model A. Google, by the way, was very useful and was actually the first place I looked. I was just hoping for advice from more experienced photographers and maybe to see some examples on here.
I'm trying to remember where around the UofA there are any of the old original houses left that you might be able to get permission to use as a back drop. There are/were a few with the big porches in town. Would give you the look, and not be "oh I know that spot" reaction ( like Olde Main on campus).
I wish I knew of some surviving old mine sites south of town (east of Green Valley in the foot hills), rust old mining equipment would be a nice back drop also.
I also found these that might help you:
