Photography is one of the most important aspects of my life and recently I have been thinking more about what it really means to me. For me, I believe it is a way to express myself, I'm not so much concerned with the technical side of photography, it's more about creating art that creates a deeper meaning. Photography connects us to the real world in the most unique way. I'm sure you all have different views, so what does photography mean to you?
@boogie Me too, I find it really relaxing. After a stressful day at work, just ten minutes with my camera taking a picture, even a bad picture of a bad subject, can chill me out completely.
It's a way to express myself that is so easy it's unbelievable. All it takes is a press of a shutter button and you have captured a memory that can now never be forgoten.
A way for me to preserve my memories of all my encounters with cute jumping spiders. 8D (Even though I've given myself lower back pain from having to assume ridiculous postures beside low bushes and grasses. XD )
Relaxation - a reason to get out and take pictures kept me sane last year - and like @houdiniem it's a quicker way of creating artwork - but I find the time pressure of 365 doesn't always allow it
Obsession - I am always trying to look for and capture the best bird shots or the nicest scenery or prettiest flower. I am also learning and experimenting more with my camera and am completely self taught. It's andventure
I've only somewhat recently been comfortable with even sharing my photos with people I know. Prior to that it's been on here, Deviantart etc. Now I love sharing them so that people can get to know another side of me :)
First and foremost, an expression of creativity! I love the styling aspect of it! Secondly, I see everything as beautiful no matter how ordinary it is! And lastly, it is just simply addicting!
I'm the same as you, its a lasting result of my art degree. But separately:
Film photography means a lot to me because it's very contemplative and private, you discover the pictures away from the subject and they are viewed differently to ones that you can see instantly.
Digital photography also means a lot to me though, I feel the more I experiment and practice with digital the better I get in general.
Creativity, keeps my brain ticking and my eyes open. When I look at shots I took at the beginning of this project I want to delete them because they aren't very good. But I think I am improving and isn't that what you are supposed to do in anything you set out to do?
photography for me is a different way of seeing things, and it makes me look at the world differently, with a new perspective. it captures memories and shows you things you might not see usually.
