The Stillness, by Paul Jones 365Project.org Jul 2, 2012 post @jonesp
The challenge: Look up the best photo I have ever seen and decide why I like it.
1. It speaks to me emotionally. It’s a place (physically & emotionally) I’ve never seen, didn’t know existed, but a place I long to be.
2. It speaks to me spiritually. If heaven on earth exists, this is it.
3. It speaks to me visually. It reads like a newspaper to me. Left to right, top to bottom. Every character (pixel) a different shape and color. The rocks jutting out of the water could be an ad or a photo of some important person.
4. It speaks to me technically. It begs the question, how did he do that? The patience and technicality that goes into producing an image like this is intriguing, challenging, and inspiring.
The Stillness (double entendre) is where I find my motivation.

In short, I really like this shot. I like the colors, especially the sunset. It's a place I want to be right now... a place I would like to visit. The landscape appeals to me and I really like how the foreground visible. Overall the shot has a calming effect. The composition- Beginning with the lower righthand corner it draws me into the sea. And she took the shot with a Sony!
@brianl It's beautiful! The blur on the water is interesting to me, too. (Not sure about the Sony part, but I have a friend who swears by hers). Thanks for posting.
@raineyday Em, wow. Not really sure what to say. I'm so so glad you like it. Its something I put a lot of thought and work into, so its really great to have such wonderful feedback. Thanks.
