Koala falling

September 14th, 2012
"drop bear"

A few weeks ago on an outdoor education trip we saved this koala from a 5 metre mine shaft; we do not know how long it had been there but it was very weak. So weak in fact that in the process of jumping from this dead branch we put into the mine to the tree it fell into the hole again...luckily it was fine in the end and we left it happily at the top of a tree. This shot was taken about 2 metres away from this wild koala a very special moment knowing that we saved an amazing animal from a certain death.

Late yesterday we uploaded the filming of the incident to youtube please have a look a the video here

Several media outlets have approached us and Melbourne's Herald Sun news paper are going to run a story on it on Monday they plan on using my image above within the article! I am very excited to be getting my photo published with my name under it!

A wildlife warrior. It's so cool that you saved a life and because if that act a lot more might be saved after the story is published. They cute animals are getting rare each day. My neighborhood, Holsworthy, and the surrounds are supposed to have the largest population of these in the wild in NSW, and I'm yet to see one.
Well done on such a selfless act, you and your friends.
