Getting away from the tripod

December 31st, 2012
I have been shooting with a tripod for a while and since i've flown home to see my family, i've shot without it and it's been yielding interesting points of view.

Also the very traditional stand, point and shoot has been presenting some issues also being that the POV seems to not do some photos the justice and attention they deserve.

Show a photo with your favorite POV!

this one was funny because I was laying on the ground taking pictures of my GF and she wasn't too happy about it.

this one... well I was laying in the middle of a street in my neighborhood taking pictures of my old shoes. Whoops!

With the exception of my moon shots, all my pictures are taken hand held. Since I take photos spontaneously, I don't use a tripod.

I'm relatively short, so I look up at a lot of things. This perspective works well with architecture, I think.

i only ever bother with the tripod when shooting long exposures... i find it too much of a hassle otherwise... i generally like low povs...

My camera was almost in the water for this.

It's always fun to get down low.

I need to learn more about pov... looking through my album now... I see most my shots are "straight on!!!" Going to work on that!!! But here is one where I did get a bit more adventurous... and the result... people liked it!!!
