My girlfriend is after a compact and I've been trying to find any that are decent but have basic aperture and shutter speed controls within the £160-£200 mark.
Was looking at the panasonic DMC-LX3 but its too expensive. Need something similar but at a lower cost
Kodak easyshare makes several with P,S,A and M modes as well as your basic auto , portrait, landscape etc modes. I just bought one for my little brother at Best Buy. it cost $180 US, I'm not sure what that translates to for you, but here is a link to one on amazon:
