I was one of those "I'm more comfortable behind the camera" types and had a LOT of trouble with self-portraits initially. However, selfies are really a great exercise: they help build confidence (in your photography and in who you are in general) and they also help increase your sensitivity towards your subjects, especially when taking portraits of others. I think everyone should try to do at least a handful of them throughout their projects. :-)

@wayoflife I am not an expert on shat defines a selfie, but I would say any shot that has you in it and you actually took the picture would be a selfie ;) I am pretty sure reflections and shadows count.
