Purposeful Shooting - OOF

January 29th, 2013
I just learned a new photo term today - "OOF" Out of Focus. This is where you see a subject and you try to play around in getting the shot just right, and then realize the magic photo gods happened and your photo works even though it is completely out of focus. I am sure we all have one OOF that we love. So share your photo here. If you do not have one, feel free to post one from someone else.

This is an 8 inch tall action figure of Poe in my sister's mostly antique filled bedroom in historic Salem MA. I think the OOF and POV help make Poe and the furniture look the right scale in size

I got your OOF right here!

@pixiemac On your picture page, on the bottom right is a box called 'Share' with '(copy and paste code)' next to it. Copy the code out of this box and paste it into your forum message.

Thanks for your help Humphreyhippo :)

@5unflow3r Wait. So the furniture and stuff in the background isn't to scale?! It's real furniture?
January 29th, 2013
I really like the blur because that's what he is like!

In a rush with this one - forgot to switch the AF back on when I swapped lenses. However the result is a really dreamy image.

Not a technique I use, but this compelling portrait by @endrem shows it off well:

Sometimes the magic photo gods happen. Sometimes you get exactly what you are aiming for.
