1) Are you willing to have your name on the list to potentially host a future camera settings challenge??????????????
The challenge winners can do set a challenge OR find someone ELSE to host the next challenge. I try to have a list of potential future CSC hosts my original list is obsolete since many of the people are no longer active on 365.Some times they don't know why to ask.
......OK WE HAVE A HOST FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE! ....
2) I am looking for someone to host the next Camera Settings Challenge? IS THAT YOU???? Frida won the challenge and needs someone to host it. (first come first serve) She said she is willing to help count votes or whatever if needed but not set a new challenge or host it.
Just a Reminder....
The original intention of this challenge was to help people LEARN Camera Settings. Sometimes it is through learning new techniques and sometimes it is very basic settings.Originally it was to help people who use Auto to learn the camera settings (NOT AUTO). Some of the challenges can be VERY ENTRY level - and others very challenging even for experienced photographers- variety is good (in my opinion anyways). Repeats (or a little twist) of former challenges is ok -
BELOW is a list of people I'm asking if you would be willing to host a future challenge if asked. WHO AM I MISSING??? PLEASE ADD THEM TO THIS THREAD. If your not listed below and would be open to teaching a setting in the future please say something below. I know I didn't get everyone.
@aprilmilani The challenge runs about 10 days and people like to have two weekends if possible. If we can have it started by Friday or Saturday that would be great (if possible).
@aprilmilani I think this would be great!
Are you going to give an aperture and tell them to adjust the shutter speed / ISO for the correct lighting or give a shutter speed and tell them to adjust the aperture and ISO? What ever way you do this I think it is going to be great!
April This will be a great challenge especially for anyone who has never shot in all manual - I think there are a lot of people like that who are going to be excited to learn how the 3 work together.
You don't need to run it by me just post it, I trust your good judgement and I know you will do an awesome job. We also try to encourage other photographers to add their input & suggestions so you may see that - it is normal and encouraged.
keep me on the list... I'm glad @aprilmilani volunteered for this one, as I've been so busy and was grateful to have a break when the last one was done.
Also, I'm trying to figure out a way to do a processing learning challenge as requested by @tigerdreamer, but not everyone has access to the same programs/software and that seems to be the snag right now
@aprilmilani I can't access that link from here at work so will look at it later tonight, but I don't think I've ever heard of the photographic triangle so I may be a participant
@myhrhelper i might be able to do it, but i'm probaly not the best choice
P.S. what is the challenge about?
P.P.S. it would be a good idea not to pick me :P
@jsw0109 So happy to hear you want to remain on the list. I hope I can build up a good size list.
I really think a processing challenge would be great. I think just teaching one specific thing at a time is great such as using the curve (this is on so many different software programs) or increasing contrast, etc. There could always be some suggested free sites as well. I think there will always be certain processes that may be difficult to do for some people some of the time but then those people may be able to participate in the next one. There are some very basic processes to learn and there are some funky options out there such as tilt shift or planet. I think whoever hosts just needs to add some helpful links.
I never heard of the triangle before. I looked at her link and it has to do with the combination of aperture, shutter speed and ISO
@cwebb Oh Yeah I will gladly add you to the list! :)
Oh Boo, I will sadly remove your name from the list! :(
LOL
The challenge is all about learning how to use different camera settings. It started out when I got my first DSLR after only using pointnshoots. I wanted to learn how to use the setttings and asked if others would be interested in a challenge to learn how to use the settings instead of "auto". There was a big response of people who also didn't know anything but manual so the camera settings challenge was started. Since the start there have been some challenging challenges even for the experienced photographer to the very basic ones. So my question to you is - are there camera settings that you are comfortable teaching? See this link: http://365project.org/myhrhelper/365/2011-12-12
@jsw0109 HI Jeff and ( @tigerdreamer ) I have drafted ( but have been hesitating in posting) an outline for an editing (or more accurately, 'image optimization') discussion topic - a structured 12 week approach - not a challenge as such, but a 'course' that can apply to all software.
Does this sound similar to what you are thinking? I would be happy to facilitate, with the help of any 'old hands'...
@jsw0109@ltodd nothing has been started by anyone that I know of.
Northy was talking about something, but I think she got busy. Personally, I don't care if it's a challenge or a lesson. Either way works for me. I never expect ,or care about, winning. It's the learning that I am looking for. Things to try and work with. @northy
Karen... i started putting together a processing challenge for black and white and then started looking at the fav b&w post and started to think i was crazy to assume i had any business hosting that kind of challenge ;p

Here is a link that may help you.
Thank you so much April!!! Looking forward to what you come up with!

The tag should be csc-22

I'm sure I'm only one of many that would love to see this happen. Hopefully starting from the very basics.
@jsw0109 I will see if I can find her original post - I don't want to duplicate anything if she is already on to it! :)
