New Trending Photos Page vs. Popular Page --- What's the difference?

November 12th, 2013
I guess I'm confused as to what this means. Isn't this the same as the PP? What is the difference?

"Hi Ace members, I'm trialling out this new page which features the Hottest photos on 365 right now."

I think this new trending page with disregard individual algorithms which is how the PP is run. For instance some people need only 4 favs to get there where as others need 25. It will be a way of getting popular shots viewed irrespective of their success.

I'm liking it a lot. Some great quality stuff on there that probably wouldn't get seen otherwise.

I agree with @mercuria some amazing shots from people I haven't had the pleasure of seeing previously

I like the way it is displayed.

I like the new Trending page a lot! Many images are already known about by the time they hit the PP, and many folks who are on the PP too much are put on "probation" so their images rarely make the PP, like Michael Elliott to name just one. @michaelelliott Also, part of the algorithm seems to take into account how active you might be, and how many "holes" you might have in your project, and if you're ACE, by how full your other albums are, etc. (Of course, that is ALL a mystery known only to the monkeys :)) Trending lets me see images that are getting attention that I might not see otherwise.

@grizzlysghost - Yup! and I like that the selected images are constantly changing up so many many can be viewed.

I suspect that this will change the PP access for many. The PP algorithms takes views into account. If you get a heap of views on the new page without comments it will (theoretically) reduce the chances of hitting the PP.

I don't think it will make any difference whatsoever ... it's still going to cause people who have great photos that never get seen hurt feelings.
