Photos of the Table Rock Fire - NC

Just wanted to share some incredible fire photos. Some of the fire images are very compelling and heartbreaking. This is a part of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area near Linville Falls and Jonas Ridge, NC - not far from where I live.

I have not gone near there since the smoke is extremely heavy. Hopefully the rains today will help put it out.

I grew up near there and have spent a lot of time hiking in that gorge. There are a few trails that wind through burned areas from a lightening fire years ago. Its depressing when something like this happens to such a beautiful area.

I am so sad and horrified to see these photos. We hiked there this summer and always take our guests to see Wiseman's View. Won't be much of a view after this terrible fire at least not in my lifetime.

@april341 I know April - the fire actually burned the very peak and all teh trails up to it. So sad.

This is not the same Table Rock State park above Pickens SC is it?? I don't think so but i THOUGHT i WOULD ASK..

WOW...it looks volcanic! Terrible fire, wonderful shots of it.

@cheribug It is not - it is Table Rock in Jonas Ridge NC. Hawksbill and Table Rock sit side by side and are part of Linville Gorge Wilderness area

@linc Whew. I have spent so much time at the hospital with my dad, I thought I might have missed something close to home. I hope they have it contained and under control. That looked horrible.!
