Engagement photos

April 2nd, 2014
I plan to take photos of my son and his fiancé this weekend. Though I have done some people, never an engagement. I have some ideas but any tips, photos, suggestions you'd like to share would be appreciated. We are in Florida, but not doing beach shots. I do plan to probably do it later in the day, since that is their preference over early in the day.

I suggest you do some homework ahead of time and explore different poses. When you find a pose you like, take a screen shot of it's thumbnail. Then put all of the screen shots together on one document that you can print off and paste it to a 4x6 index card (or two). I did this for a wedding I shot back in August and things went really well. I was able to show everyone the pose I was going for, they took their places in the pose, and I shot away. It was such a time saver and took off the stress of having to come up with a pose off the top of my head. Digital Photography School has a great post about posing couples. http://digital-photography-school.com/posing-guide-21-sample-poses-to-get-you-started-with-photographing-couples/ Good luck with your shoot. I look forward to seeing the results!

Thank you, @sioux and @dejongdd. Both links are very helpful. I had already pinned some poses on Pintrest and will ask her to look at them. So much also depends on the light and weather!
