anyone else feel overwhelmed by the new format?

April 15th, 2014
Don't get me wrong - I love the bigger pics. I'm not a complainer. I'm not a whiner. :-) But for some reason ever since the site changed over I feel completely overwhelmed. I feel like I can't keep up with anything anymore.

I thought maybe in time I'd get into the groove (Madonna like!) but if anything I feel like I'm getting further behind.

anyone else feel that way? tips??

I find that it is harder to see the photos of my followers with the new format - less of them on a page when you are on the home page. I have to go to each one's page to view. Takes more time and seems like I have less viewers on mine.

I like it....my method now is to scroll down the page and right click on each person as they come up....not each of their photos, just their name once and open it in a new tab. Then I go to each tab and view the photo...the nice thing is that ACE members extra album shots are shown as thumbnails on the same page so that I can click on whichever ones I want to view and thus see all their new stuff....I only miss out if they are back filling and that thumbnail isn't in the current week.
April 15th, 2014
I often click on an image and select to 'open link in new tab'. I'll scroll down the page and do that to several images until I get through all the newest images. I then proceed to go to the new tabs and view each image individually. This was my prior method before the format change, so for me, I only see the change as a good thing because now the thumbnails are larger.

I'm with HippieChick13. I still hate the new format. It's especially problematic when someone decides to upload a ton of photos at once. It has definitely reduced my enjoyment of the site, and it has definitely reduced the number of photos I'm able to view.
April 16th, 2014
@lynnb haha! We have a similar method.
April 16th, 2014
Not a huge fan but tolerable. I just wish the names of the person posting the photo would go back above the photo and not below, as it is now.
April 16th, 2014
My mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

I *never* get past page one.
April 16th, 2014
I'm starting to get used to it but yes, I have a hard time with it. There was a thread posted when it first changed and almost everyone seemed to love it so I thought it was just me and didn't comment. It's getting easier but I do find navigating it to be harder, and I agree with @jools . For some reason half the time my dyslexia kicks in and I don't know who's photo it is unless I click on it and go to their project.
April 16th, 2014
I'm loving the new format, much better in my opinion!
April 16th, 2014
@lynnb I've been doing this, too, Lynn. It really works for me to focus on the person and their recent shots rather than using the "Home Page" like I used to do. I really love the larger versions of the photos!
April 16th, 2014
I love it!
April 16th, 2014
It's a huge improvement in my opinion. Saves me loads of time. I guess its a matter of working out how to make it best work for you. :-)
April 16th, 2014
It is saving me at least an hour a day because the shots are so BIG I can comment on them directly and only open about one in five.
April 16th, 2014
I like it very much. I can comment on many photos without opening them, and it saves time. The bigger photos are great.
April 16th, 2014
@lynnb I do the same. I do like the format for the size, but have been feeling overwhelmed just the same. I think it might also just be burnout on my part. I am finding I'm more likely to comment on the feed version because they are the same size as the individual page version when on my computer. As long as that doesn't 'hurt' someone's chances for getting to PP or Trending, I think it's useful for the viewing side.
April 16th, 2014
@swilde @rvwalker I'm the same - I like the bigger format because I can comment straight away. But then it doesn't count as a view for that person... Pros and cons I guess!
April 16th, 2014
I also wish the person's name was more prominent at the top of their photo. The name just blends in with the comments.
April 16th, 2014
Oh and I'm ALWAYS overwhelmed! My word for 2014 was "balance" and I was going to make sure that 365 and the rest of my life was in balance... so far I'm not succeeding. I spend way too many hours here.
April 16th, 2014
i don't think the home page needed to change, i preferred scrolling down instead of clicking through pages and pages, the photos there are too large
April 16th, 2014
I like the bigger photos now that I've gotten used to the name being really small under it.
April 16th, 2014
I think the new format is wonderful! I like that we can continue on down the Homepage feed and not have to scroll down again and again to get to older photos (that's EXCELLENT!) I like to open nearly all photo pages of people I follow because I think the captions contain items of interest or relevance and make my reply more meaningful. The ONLY think I've encountered I would like to see tweaked a bit is that on my own site, with the block of current photos, I seldom recall in which album I put them. I have to do a bit of dancing to find the link I'm looking for. Otherwise, I think it's all nicely cleaned up and very user friendly. That's MY take on it anyway!
April 16th, 2014
I am totally overwhelmed by it. I'm nearing completion of Year Three on 365, and for the first time, have contemplated dropping out. Primarily because I find it very hard to keep up with viewing the photos of people I follow. Yes, the large photo is wonderful, but I'm not digging the change.
April 16th, 2014
I also like the new home page because all the photos are larger, it means I don't skim over a thumbnail which didn't give an immediate wow.

I guess it is a bit marmite, love it or hate it..... me I'm a love and so glad that from the world over we a have a place we can chat, share ideas and our photos all because one person had a great idea......thanks @scrivna :)
April 16th, 2014
I have sadly found that I'm commenting more on just the thumbnails without opening the photos as the thumbnails are soo big & I feel bad as I don't think this then shows up on people's photos as a view but unless I think it's an awesome shot I'm not opening so I can try & get through all the pages!?!
April 16th, 2014
I love the new format, I think it really showcases everyone's work better and gives a sense of scale to our work. I hate working with thumbnails, so much gets missed that way. I know that I have been finding more awesome work since it went into the new format.

Like others here I right click and open other new tabs to explore other albums and pages. I often get onto the 3rd/4th page and mostly comment from the feed, which I love because it saves so much time.

I'm the kind of person who prefers comments to views anyway, so I am happy that I don't have a high view count, I never look at it.

Swings and roundabouts, pros and cons, but I love it and hope that it stays like this. I would like to thank Ross for taking the time to constantly bring the site up to date @Scrivna
April 16th, 2014
I think an option in the Settings to choose between old and new one would be nice...
@scrivna
April 16th, 2014
images to large on newsfeed
have to click on image to comment unless someone has commented
name underneath photo makes it harder to compute who's done it
April 16th, 2014
I'm loving the new format, in my opinion - It's a huge improvement :)
April 16th, 2014
The only thing I've found as a negative is that due to the larger image I get too engrossed scrolling down viewing the images - thinking I'll comment and as I move it up to the commenting place I then get distracted by the image underneath that I forget to comment and often I realise I've viewed 3/4 pages without making a comment so then I have to go back and start again ....
Lots of images from one user is also frustrating now particularly when viewing time is tight as it so often is for many of us - 2/3 images in one go not too bad - particularly if you have an ace and as such 3 albums but last week I had one person catching up they uploaded that many shots I was over 4 pages in before I saw something by someone else ....this happens quite a few times during these times for me a 5 shot upload at a time restriction would be beneficial
April 16th, 2014
@hippiechick13 I like the new format but I only got started this year and never really got hooked on the old format.
Might be worthwhile taking a step back and asking yourself whether there could be something else getting in the way!
April 16th, 2014
@lynnb I am with Lynn about loving the "here are all recent posts from all albums" part of the new format. That is wonderful and helps me browse others' pics. And it keeps them from just "getting buried" and never seen. The big pics can be a challenge..I still have a hard time remembering how to get to "my month in calendar view" but am starting to get better with that. I would say I like it over saying I don't like it. If he took the big pic format away now, at this point, I would hate going back to the small photos. @Scrivna
April 16th, 2014
@jools I am with Julia on where the names of the photographer should be. Yes! They need to be at the top. That is still freaking me out.
April 16th, 2014
Ish
I think it would be great to have an option to make the thumbnails smaller if we prefer it that way.
April 16th, 2014
Just in case the developers of this site do read this thread...

I am new so I don't know what the old was like, but I agree with above comments that we should have the name of the person above the photo instead at the bottom....it is very confusing to who's picture it is!!

Thanks.
April 16th, 2014
I love the large pics as opposed to the thumbnails. And I also agree with Debs @dibzgreasley that I prefer comments to views, so that doesn't bother me if someone comments directly from the feed. I'll have to try the opening in a new tab thing that many people have mentioned. I'm assuming that's to view and explore just one person's shots but then you still have the other tab with the feed? Anyway, I'm getting used to it and would have a hard time going back now. @scrivna
April 16th, 2014
@houdiniem yes I have commented on the wrong pic thinking the name is above rather than below the shot
April 16th, 2014
@linc @lynnb @blueberry1222 @jools @4umfreak @edie @vokesy @paulam @juliedduncan @gazbadger @swilde @rvwalker @taffy @pocketmouse @bella_ss @kali66 @homeschoolmom @Weezilou @nanalisarocks @pixiemac @sjodell @dibzgreasley @justaspark @houdiniem @whatsfordessert @scolgs @bighotch @espyetta @ishi @uncommonjed @tara11 @virtualbrownie

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I appreciate it. It would be nice to have a choice about the size of the pics. . maybe for now I'll just adjust my screen and make everything smaller.
April 16th, 2014
I am a fan of the new format, but I do find myself double-checking the name of submitter, seems confusing to me in its current location.
April 16th, 2014
Bigger photos on the photo page cool, but bigger photos on Home page making me cross-eyed!
April 16th, 2014
@michaelelliott You are the 3rd person I have agreed with on this! That would be the best...small photos on the home page/newsfeed, BIG photo once you go to that person's page, and name on the top of the photo in the newsfeed. I vote for all three of those
April 16th, 2014
I actually like the new version and find it easier move around in.
April 16th, 2014
I get a kick out of guessing who took picture before seeing name.
April 16th, 2014
Piss poor on mobile, still being forced to use the mobile site, especially when it squeezes all the discussions into one teeny tiny column has pretty much helped me decide to wind down on this site and move onto pastures new.
April 16th, 2014
I like the format but I do wish the photographer's names appeared BEFORE their images. They look like they go with the image after them.
April 16th, 2014
@francoise Haha, what a great way to see the positive side!

@michaelelliott @espyetta Yes, I have to agree with you both there!
April 17th, 2014
@featherstone @doyouseewhatisee Yes I agree - I think the name should be above, and not below, the photo.

@francoise lol!
