Ok so today I'm taking formal photo's for a brother and sister this afternoon (she's year 10, he's year 12) I've met the family once and I'm thinking they'll be pretty easy going but I was after some tips. It's really cloudy today so I won't get to do any nice sunny shots but I'm borrowing a good camera so that should help me at least.
I have my own formal photos to get ideas from but it was on the beach so this will be a bit different.
So, throw some suggestions my way please!! I'm a tad nervous lol.
Hey
Good luck with this, I hope it goes well for you :)
I suggest if you are using a digital slr you use an external flash.
Also maybe make a reflector using tin foil and cardboard so you can use what little light you have and reflect it on the peoples face :)
This is a photography blog that first inspired me to take pictures. She does a lot of personal photos on the beach. You might want to check her out for some ideas. http://www.kellehamptonphotography.com/
I wish I could help with tips, but I just want to wish you luck - I would love to be doing what you are doing, so just have a whole lot of fun indulging your childish side and hopefully they will relax for you to get some great shots. Look forward to the results.
congrats on the thread .... when you're done let me know as I'm driving a friend and doing their [P&S ... lol] on Tuesday. Was thinking nobbies or king edward park. let me know what worked for you. dang, better practice portraits for the rest of the week.
P.S. always getting told to concentrate on the eyes, get close iwht a 50mm or use a 'zoom' at around 100mm and shoot on cloudy setting. hope it helps ... but don't take my advice, try it and mix it up.
I'm back! Well the sun came back out but I think it worked ok. I sort of just went with the flow lol. I'm about to upload them all onto the computer and have a play. @misschuff We went to Toronto Foreshore and got a few shots with lake backgrounds which came out nice. My own formal photos were at Nobby's and Civic park and they all came out really nice.
