I have been struggling lately to post a pic everyday! I don't know why but I think I know the cure! A one night stand!
Nothing like a little action and a One Night Stand Challenge to get you back in the game! Lets all have one together! :o)
For those of you who are new or aren't familiar with the ONS challenge, this is how it works;
I have compiled a long list of photography types and put them all in a hat! Just like a one night stand, some are pretty and nice, some are ugly and mean! I've randomly selected 7 types and gave them each a day! You get one day with each type and then set them free! One post for each type then its on to another! Love 'em and leave 'em!
Make sure to tag your pics ONS8 so we can all watch each other go through it! That's if you like to watch! :o)
Here is the list;
Mon. 14th - Soft Focus
Tues. 15th - SOOC- Straight out of camera. No post processing! That's a tough one for us editing fanatics! :o)
Wed. 16th - Architecture
Thurs. 17th- Macro
Fri. 18th - Sign Photography- This is always fun!
Sat.19th- Transportation
Sun. 20th - High Speed
There it is! Some are fun, some are a little challenging!
What makes this challenge fun is we all go through it together! One pic and leave it for the next! Tag your post ONS8 or post your pic here so we can all see each others works of art!
I hope you get lucky! ;o)
I want to say I am going to do this, but I am also terrified at the same time! I initially said I was going to do this project for at least one year with no fillers and so far so good, but I have to admit I have struggled at times the last few weeks so this challenge does hold some appeal. Just not sure I am creative enough...but hell why not give it a go!
I've never missed one and I don't plan on missing one ever. So glad I came over to discussions to see this one. I would have missed the announcement--I'm struggling to stay on...just what the Dr. ordered for this gal. Thanks!
@ukandie1 This is just what you need! The great part is if your pic sucks you can move on to a different topic! :o) I'm glad you're in, Ukandie! Its a lot of fun!
OK, I"m in! Just what I need in my life: one more challenge and a set of rules to stress about, but oddly enough I really enjoyed the last one! Thanks for doing this again.... :-)
@orangecrush Oh yes - definitely what's called for. Besides, I'm such a mumsie that my kids and friends are startled when I tell them I'm doing a one-night-stand... always good for amusement and subtlely altering my reputation!! No selfies this time hooray!! :) I'm in
@orangecrush@pixiemac I guess I am about to be initiated into the 365 world of one night stands, thanks for the push, I might have chickened out otherwise!
Ok, so I thought it was Monday TODAY--clearly, I am in need of therapy, but check out this scandalous daisy (aka, I used the link above's advice, but I had only panties to get the shot done). Ohhhhhhh, yes I did! You may laugh or judge now. Will start again tomorrow. But at least I can say the advice works with tights OR panties...no need to be uptight about it! ;-)
@darylo i ended up just using some old plastic that had gone whitish, but at one point the camera focused on the plastic and made a really interesting layer effect and that is my fav pic, rather than the soft focus ones....I will use that idea again.
I didn't have tights because I hate them and no opportunity to buy a pair today - so I used http://softfocus.me. It also works with that (sorry for the unspectacular subject!)
I used tights as I wouldn't have had a clue how to do it otherwise! Thank you Daryl. I have so much to learn but I'm really enjoying this project so far.
Well I've never tried this before but the tights were just too intriguing - thanks @darylo for the tip! Taken with my nifty 50 and SOOC except for some minor contrast tweaks.
Got another one today to officially start--yup, with my black panties and all! :) Maybe I should start a business called Pure Panty Productions. Perfect for One Night Stands ;)
If I had kept the ones of my sisters dog through a steamed up lens they would have been eligible, but ... not sure this one counts but the subject is soft and the focus looks soft as it is mingled with looking through close up cage wire!
I'm sorry I missed the initial post of this! But I'll do my best to put in as many as I can! My camera doesn't do high speed, so I'll have to get really creative with that one! I always enjoy your ons challenges.
Ooh, I missed yesterday, this sounds fun though, never done these yet; although looking at the list, I might be over thinking this, what is sign photography? I can't find that
@nikkilee just shooting a pic of a sign or signs... Could be "ironic" like one I did of man enjoying a cigarette behind a "No Smoking" sign or just any cool sign shot in a cool way
I ended up doing two (overachiever problem?) -- great fun, love that there are no selfies in this round!
This one below was my favorite (but Bella was by far the more popular one)
Didn't get time to do the soft focus one yesterday but here's my SOOC one for today... My box of (maths) tricks (SOOC) - Off to do a session for some teachers.
@tara11 Enjoy your vacation, Tara! All that you need for today is a SOOC shot. And tomorrow...a sign. You can do it and still be with your family! But I know what you mean...cannot get lost in it!
@darylo What a great idea -- hanks for posting the link. I have a drawerful of old panty hose, even colored tights, that I never wear but haven't thrown away -- I can hardly wait to try it even though it's now too late for the soft focus one night stand. Your daisy is beautiful -- love the way it came out.
SOOC! I'm still twitching from posting this without any processing!

So, I missed yesterday, but decided to catch up, here's my soft focus for yesterday that I did today, love the pantyhose, it's funny, when I put this on the computer, I saw cobwebs, didn't notice them taking the picture, then I realized it was just the snags in my pantyhose, hehe
@snaggy I downloaded my pics of these not half an hour ago and they are not as clear as this by any means so they are not on the 365. They are all over my broad beans, mating as if it was going out of fashion. Do you know what they are?
@callymazoo I've no idea Cally, but I was a bit desperate for a shot and found them in a field of grass a few hundred metres from home in Wiltshire. There were loads of them - have to say I'd never seen them before.
Please give critique as I have not tried this before. I realise that I need to focus where the ball was falling and not pre-focus on the ferns.
I have really enjoyed this weeks challenge and it has given me food for thought and makes me realise how much further I can go. It also made me look in my undie drawer and decide I need a few more delicate items that can double up for soft focus, encourage me to be more creative, put a lens and tripod on my birthday list and most of all to keep going. This is such a supportive site.
Will do what I can!
@orangecrush Quick question for the 1st day - soft focus, I've no real idea of the difference between soft focus & out of focus any help anybody???
@summerfield @ukandie1 @sjodell @harley84 @kwiksilver @tremerryn @justaspark @filsie65 @gavincci @brigette @dibzgreasley @roseolivia @swilde @kali66 @panthora @pixiemac @summerfield @orangecrush
So I found this cool link for day one. I think using some nice tights is so ONS for day one ;-0
btw, the link seems to have 'summerfield' at the end, should be http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/2013/04/24/diy-photography-hacks-get-cool-soft-focus-effects-using-a-pair-of-tights/

No pantyhose and no processing other than a crop. But looking forward to trying both ideas.
Day 2 SOOC. mother owl watching the dogs with a beady eye.
My Day Two SOOC picture
