Just to let my friends know, there will be no posts for a few days. I'm doing a solo retreat on an island in Lake Michigan (South Manitou). Sleeping in a tent, cooking on an Esbit stove, hiking the woods and shoreline, lying around in my hammock, etc. Finally getting my much-needed break from the real world. Yes, I most definitely AM taking my camera. See you soon! ;)
Hope you have a great time. I was at Sleeping Bear two weeks ago and the flies at some of the locations were horrible. Sleeping Bear Point was the worst. As soon as I hit the sand I was swarmed by stable flies.
Solo...as in ALL BY YOURSELF? That sounds scary but exciting! It also sounds like you will get some great photos! Relax, and have fun and see ya on the flip side!
@espyetta Thanks, MaryBeth! Yes, by myself. I'm one of those introverts who gets enervated by people and has to recharge my batteries in utter solitude. I am way, way overdue! There is a manned ranger station on the island, plus I'm going over with pepper spray and my pistol. I'm sure I won't need them, but feel better having them anyway. Security blankets - ha ha ha! :)
@juliedduncan I am the exact same way. I get run down by being with people. I love it and love to socialize, but need to recharge by being with myself and my own thoughts. I get it. Sounds wonderful!
