Please help to encourage

I took my children for a photo walk today. I would really appreciate your support to help encourage them. Girl is 11 and boy is 9. Girl started 365 a few months ago but struggled with commitment. They both had access to DSLR's today. The editing and image selection has been done by them.

Dd they choose the b&w? Works so well for both shots; so good start there. Like the comp of the boy shot, the stillness it conveys is quite lovely.
Now I am not a big fan of icm, so difficult for me to comment on the girl shot, I do however like the gritty processing. I like the concept too at least feet are meant to be moving and this does give a feel of the foot being suddenly pulled back, so therefore you imagine there is a story behind it.
Hope this is helpful:0)

Sorry should have read properly. They did their own editing you say very good eye the pair of them. Great choice for b&w and like their processing

Boy's shot is fun and being 9, I won't complain about the idea being cliche :) Pretty awesome for that age I say!! I do however really like that the subject is facing away and is mostly in silhouette - I don't think I'd even held a camera at that age so all of this is incredibly mature as far as I'm concerned!

And your girl's shot … is pretty spectacular in my opinion! The thought put into the subject (I don't know, maybe that came from you??), composition and technique are all fabulous - as is the choice she made to use this shot over whatever else she had. The processing is lovely - soft and gritty at the same time. I'm thoroughly impressed :)

Not only are they great subjects, but they are great budding photographers, too. Just like their dad.

Both are fantastic shots by two talented young photographers - keep snapping!

They're both impressive shots! what talent at such young ages. I commented on both and am following your daughter now.

Great shots!

I love both shots. And I've seen plenty of adults that can't capture these kinds of shots and make them look this good! And the editing is great! :) They've definitely got talent!! Keep on with it!!

very skillful, like their mentor!

If you hadn't mentioned their ages, I would have never known these photos were taken by children. Clearly, they have a knack for photography and share your passion. What a great way for a family to stay connected too!

they have so much creativity to start out with, they should go far... as long as it is their choice.

So, I'm not in any position to critique...not with what I manage to not accomplish. I will say that Boys shot is a very cool concept, great composition and well thought out with great processing. Girls shot is just as good, love the movement and processing and the whole idea as well, and as others have said, if you hadn't pointed out their age...two great shots really. Very talented young 'uns.

Very impressive for younger photographers! I really like your son's shot, the fact that he chose a subject looking away & didn't place him in the middle of the shot. Also, your daughter's shot is artistic. She isn't afraid to try something totally different and original.

THANK YOU ALL. It was like Christmas morning here today. Boy and Girl were over the moon with the responses. They could not wait to show their Grandparents all the lovely comments. They kept going through what you had all written, having a discussion and then re-reading them all over again. I cannot thank you all enough.
There are two children here who have had the most amazing morning and day thanks to you.
Hopefully they will continue....fingers crossed.

@spanner You are an amazing parent, so keep being such a good example and they will have no option but to follow!

@spanner Oh I think your kids have a fair bit to thank you for too just quietly! Mine are just babies yet … but I reckon I will remember this little anecdote for years to come and hope I remember to do things like this for them too :)
