& @lynnilou I am calling out to you guys and have posted on a couple of friends projects. I know you may not have been here but I bet you have pictures that would remind people of Maine.
Happy Maine Day! Although I'm more familiar with its craggy coastline, Maine also has beautiful farmlands and lakes and mountains. I think that one of the reasons I love Oregon so much (where my sister has lived the past twenty years) is because it reminds me of our gorgeous New England Maine.
Loved my brief visit to Maine this past summer. Found the best thrift store there, ate lunch and visited a fort where we got to see a pretty lighthouse:
Happy Maine Day! Your state is one of my favorite ones to visit, we're in Connecticut so it's within easy driving distance for us. We spent a week up there in June, here's a few photos from our trip.
@kjbadger Oh, you are in for some stunning shots. But get to areas that aren't in the tourist areas and well as doing the loop road, Cadillac Mountain. If you do the loop road - take your time. AND if you have time do a carriage ride up Day Mountain - a mustn't miss. Oh, sorry I am from the old days when you could take your car on the loop road. Now you have to take a bus I believe - at least in the height of the season. I have been there in every season and love it. Stay on the island not back in Bangor or even Ellsworth. And if you are there long enough take some day trips up and down the coast. And stay on the coast which means you get off Route 1. I mean there are some wonderful small coastal towns to see. Before you go a must site to visit is http://www.visitmaine.com.
@joansmor Thanks for these tips! I will definitely check out this web site. I just love the national parks, and I have never been to Maine or any part of that area...thought it would be something very different. :)
