Click sound

Does anyone know how to shut off that 'click' sound when you take a picture? On a Sony a330?
Sorry I haven't been on. I got a new computer that is not compatible with my camera. Any help on my problem would be helpful.
Thanks!

The a330 is a DSLR with a mirror, right? You'll always have some noise as the mirror flips up and flips back, but you can, I am sure, raise the mirror before you shoot, and control when the mirror flips back down. Somewhere in your "shooting" menus I am sure.

Welcome back, Kate! I just checked the manual for your camera, but unfortunately there's no "Mirror Lock" function that would flip the mirror up before shooting. The sound you're hearing is the mechanical sound of the mirror flipping up and down. It's not something you can control.

Oh, I have always wanted to shut my canon T2i UP! In a silent situation, it sounds like a big gong! Guess we will have to live with it. :)

I could turn it off at my Sony Bridge Camera but that's probably because it's mirrorless then :/

I bought a remote viewfinder for my camera so I could set it up near our bird feeder and take pics without disturbing the birds - forgot about that damn click - one click and they're off!

Doh!!!

Some cameras (including mine, which is how I know) also have a "silent" shutter mode (separate to Mirror Lock-up), but I'm sure if yours has this @frankhymus would have known!
