Chicago B&W during 1940s

Given how often I post images from Chicago today, I thought some might find these images of Chicago during WWII interesting. A lot is street photography. As you scroll, you'll also see photos of the skyline, and one of set of railroad tracks with the skyline behind -- those tracks are now the location of Millennium Park with the tracks now beneath a beautiful city park.

The building with the Emile Zola sign - is the Fine Arts Building at 410 S. Michigan Avenue (Solon Beman, 1886)- it is still open and home to artists and musical studios :) My mom took dance classes there in the '40s. These are amazing!

@kchuk I also had fun figuring out where difference images had been taken. It's amazing to me that we can recognize any of the buildings! And they all look so small and spaced compared to today, don't they?
