Taking an action sequence

Does anyone know how to make an action sequence shot of four or five stages of a sports sequence like a gymnast moving or a skier so you see the person in five positions on same background? I have adobe photoshop elements 12 thanks

Hi Anita... is the person "travelling"? or staying in the same position?

if they are travelling, and the shots were taken on a tripod with the same backdrop, then the technique used for a multiplicity image would apply... there was a thread on this a couple days ago with some links to youtube tutorials that could help:

if the different stages of the action are overlapping, it gets a bit trickier, although i think you would still use the same technique as for multiplicity... but you do have to decide how you want to handle the overlapping bits, and then you get into blending modes and opacity... i did this for my "walker" shot that i posted yesterday... i might be able to explain about this more, but it's a bit complicated and not worth getting into if that's not what you're looking for...

Anita, @northy is asking the right first questions ->stable background or background moving like a panorama? The next question is priority of the sequence of shots for putting into layers and masking. If stable background you then have set the stage for layering and masking. If moving background then you need to build the pieces of the background and do some blending and other tricks. I'm not sure of the limitations of PS Elements since I use Creative Cloud Photoshop. Can you do blending modes in Elements 12?
