lightroom gone wonky?

October 26th, 2014
up until a week or so ago, when i would put my camera card into my computer to import images into lightroom, they would come up in the library panel in numerical order... which, oddly and coincidentally enough, happens also to be in chronological order ;p

now, all of a sudden and out of the blue, the images are scrambled... this is a huge pain in the arse... because although lightroom is only supposed to be identifying images not previously downloaded, it has never done this for me consistently... so i am usually having to go the "uncheck all" route, and then i highlight the ones i want to import using the "shift" key (i.e.: highlight the first one, go to the last one and hit shift and click on the track pad and then when i tick one, all are ticked)...

but when the images are in any old order, older ones are mixed with the new ones and like i said, this is a pain in the arse... once their imported, they are in the right order, and it's pretty easy to delete the ones i've already dealt with... but it would be easier if i didn't have to deal with them at all!!!!

any idea what i did to bugger up the works?

on the import dialogue screen, down the bottom near the thumbnail slider, is a "Sort: xxxxxx " with arrows. Mine is set to "capture time" but yours might be set to "off" now?

@northy Thanks for asking this question, I had the same problem. Amazing how the answer is often so simple. Thanks @ltodd for the help.

I don't use the Lightroom catalog but my husband does and thinks it is great. I do the routine of uncheck all and I save them in a specific folder. He likes it because you can tag each photo/group and can bring up photos by the tag. Also when you use the catalog you can use the history but once it is saved as a jpeg (shoot in raw) you can't use the history
